Angry French president urged Israel to hit Syria: Report

TEL AVIV: French President Jacques Chirac told Israel at the start of the war in Lebanon that France would support an Israeli assault on Syria, a report said.

According to Israeli news paper, in a message, which was delivered by Chirac to Israel via a secret channel, the French president suggested that Israel invade Damascus and topple the regime of Bashar Assad. In exchange, Chirac assured Israel full French support for the war.

According to the message delivered from Paris, Syria was responsible for the flare up in the North and encouraged Hizbullah to attack.

"Syria must understand that any act that encroaches upon the stability of Lebanon, be it through the shipment of weapons or assassinations, is an act that contradicts with its standing in the international community and will trigger a response from the international community," Chirac said at the time.

Why, this is propesterous. I have always thugh that these French were sympathetc of Arab interests but how wrong i was. Syria and Lebanon are probably the only stand up Arab nations i know of and a highly regarded ally such as France approving of such methods is just disgusting.

Let's just wait and see what the French have to say about this report, it's already know and Olmert himself said, the Lebanon war was planned in advance, while Semyor Hersh proved it during the start of the war.

I also see that kind of reporting are just to mis-lead the muslim opinion. Nothing more than that.
I do not consider France as a major ALLY, but it is true that they are no USA or UK with respect to Muslim world either. That is +ve about them.
