IMSc unveils India's seventh-fastest supercomputer `Annapurna' news

its wonderful that Intel can help India build a fast computer. I wonder if the front panel of the super computer has the logo "intel inside"

what do u mean by that,u want to say that China had mastered making processors:what:

Y not? Afterall the person acknowledged as the "Father of the Pentium chip" was Indian :coffee:

Well, you are the one who brought China into this contest. China had supercomputer on that list way before India had any, and had one on the top 10 list in 2004 with Dawning 4000A already. Have you seen any Chinese saying we rank ** with whatever before India?

I was not replying to any Chinese, but to my Indian friend only, that we do not need to catch up with China we alread have it. I hope u will get the context now...

yes i know congrats for the SuperComputer...
i was replying to my Indian freind , that India has already done it before with Eka......
surely with time all supercoumputers loose their ranking..so no point making one top 5 every 2 years....

with EKA we already reached there back in 2007 itself as it was number 4.. :)

would you mind to explain a little bit: Since when HP bacame a indian company?

site:Computational Research Laboratories, TATA SONS India

Computer/Year/ Vendor : EKA Cluster Platform 3000 BL460c, Xeon 53xx 3GHz, Infiniband / 2008/Hewlett-Packard

Since Intel became chinese...Nebulae (computer) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nebulae (Chinese: 星雲) is a petascale supercomputer, Built from a Dawning TC3600 Blade system with Intel Xeon X5650 processors and Nvidia Tesla C2050 GPUs

The difference here is, Nebulae was built by Dawning Information Industry using Intel CPU chips as its core processor without any assistance from others, EKA was built with HP hardwares and technical assistance for TATA the end user which is located in India. So the whole credit as you can see from the ranking went to HP rather than Computational Research Laboratories of TATA which basically just assembled the supercomputer. Supercomputer is not just about what CPU it uses, the whole system integration is the essential part of building a supercomputer.

:rofl:.. move on buddy... bad attempt to inflame...
and so build one without the CPU...!!

CPU is the most important part... So you should first question ur own supercomputer if it is with respect to the hardware components..
what is that assistance.. u dont know... its just related to the hardware they provided.. and not to the design and software of the machine which is what is the Supercomputer...which was purely an Indian effort...

Well, you have to make the complaint to Top500 Supercomputer about giving credit of EKA to HP rather than TATA.

While building the faster super computer ,i'd prefer also if we developed supercomputers that"ll be affordable all over our country,i.e by companies, industries,Universities etc.maybe even colleges.Though i don't see most of India needing such fast supercomputers except for few areas, but with time we will need more of them in various areas.I'd also like research on DNA computing,Biomolecular computing etc,Israel has made good progress in those fields.

PS:Such supercomputers will be of great use when accessing large amounts of data like our Biometric id project.

LOL!But i would be like "Ah,not again" when i see the title in a newspaper :"India develops the World's cheapest supercomputer" :D
