City Lights (by Charlie Chaplin)

The final scene is one of the most poignant scenes ever filmed and has been called the "greatest single piece of acting ever committed to celluloid."

Woody Allen claimed the final scene says more about love than all the books and poems put together. I agree.

Ben-Hur (1959)

Still good after 50+ years, The pinnacle of film making. I have seen great films, allmost all IMDBs top 250. They still are a "small" notch below Ben-Hur. Nobody who ever saw this film ever forgot the Chariot Race scene, greatest action scene filmed without special effects, nothing is computer generated.

To be or not to be .... a comedy movie, made in 1942, currently i am downloading. once saw it on zee mgm... amazing movie

I am surprised no one mentioned stanley cubrik movies here..

The Shining and clock work orange...

If you haven't seen it then you haven't seen anything...

BTW I'm from FTI pune.. Film making is my profession..

Also watch 'Mulholland Dr. (2001)',
'Donnie Darko (2001)',
'Memento (2000)',
'Memories of Murder (2003)',
'Vertigo (1958)'

Memento is one of the most intelligent movies ever by sir cristopher nolan.. He has always done wonders while telling a story..

Donny darko was one of the complex films even though it is clear in the end but movie tells more than just time travelling...

Best love story, story revolves around the tragedy of civil war of America.

Few sentences of a letter from Nicole Kidman to Jude Law who was at war:

“Every house in these mountains touched by tragedy……..each day the dread…..of learning who has fallen, who will return from this terrible war and no word from you……..are you alive, I pray to God you are…..this war is lost on the battlefield than is being lost twice over by those who stayed behind…………..my last thread of courage now is to put my faith on you and to believe I will see you again…………so now I say to you, plain as I can………if you are fighting, stop fighting…………if you are marching, stop marching………..come back to me………..come back to me is my request.”
