Featured IAF Mi-17-V5 Helicopter carrying CDS Bipin Rawat with family crashes

On NDTV, ex IAF chief is saying he is likely to be dead. Though surprised that Mi17, which is a double engine helicopter crashes.
MI 17/MI 8 is extremely unreliable. China had a few crashes a year in nineties with them.

As per some sources (both indian & Pakistanis intelligence & armed forces) the tussle between the three branches have caused a lot of uneasiness within Indian armed forces and this crash is most likely sabotage to remove Bipin Rawat from CDS post perpetrated by Indian Airforce or Navy.

Mi-17s are known to be unreliable machines given that most of them are so old. The 'VIP' tag is just for the interiors. They are not very different from rest of the junk.
Mi-17- V5s in IAF is relatively new getting in service in 2012 and one of the most reliable military helicopters.

I don't have any sympathy for CDS Rawat but it is indeed tragic how the incident unfolded with multiple casualties.

There were also people that escaped the wreckage/were found outside, all i'm saying is that it is premature to say he is dead without any confirmation. There can be survivors it's very slim but it is possible, whether they survive post-crash is yet to be seen.
Heli crashed on hill so some bodies were tossed clear of wreckage after crash.

why is there this feud between indian fliers and trees?

trees fought back this time?
They did not try to autorotate. It flew into the mountain at speed. May be a total piloting error. Every heli pilot is normally taught to keep away from any mountains/hills at all times. I went for army orientation in highschool. They flew us around in a heli telling all that.

Old heils can be very easily sucked down by downdrafts near a mountain. Mi 8 flies like an iron. Rotor speeds plummet with most minor exertions. It has no chances to overpower even a gentle mountain downdraft.

Alternatively, Mi 17 had its usual mechanical failure in controls, they lost control at speed, and flew into the mountain. That's also easily possible.

Is this an inside job because of service rivalries?? CDS tried to make the IAF a lackey to the IA versus being an independent force recently - did the IAF just take him out with this crash ????

Feels like it to me..
damn a big loss for india .RIP

And an even bigger loss for Pakistan - the guy was the village idiot ..

I stand corrected on this. My opinion was influenced by Pawan Hans inventory which is quite poorly maintained. Indeed the machine itself is quite rugged.

Crash happened 2 hours back still no word on the fate of the general. Things doesn't look good. Had he survived, than clarification would had been issued by now. He might be badly injured as well and perhaps fighting for his life in near by hospital.
