PM asks UAE to facilitate talks on India-held Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday asked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold serious and sincere talks to resolve burning issues, including Kashmir, and said the United Arab Emirates leadership could play an important role in bringing India and Pakistan to table.

The prime minister, in an interview with Al Arabiya news channel, said, “My message to the Indian leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is that let us sit down on the table and have serious and sincere talks to resolve our burning issues like Kashmir.

“In Kashmir, flagrant human rights violations are taking place day in and day out.”

The PM said India had usurped any semblance of autonomy, given to the Kashmiris according to Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, as the autonomy was revoked in August 2019.

Minorities in India were being persecuted, he said, adding that India must stop this to give a message to the world that the country was ready for meaningful talks.

In interview, Shehbaz tells Modi ‘let us sit down on the table and have serious, sincere talks’
Mr Shehbaz reminded the world that India and Pakistan were neighbours and they had to live with each other. “It is up to us to live peacefully and make progress or quarrel with each other, and waste time and resources. We have three wars with India and it only brought more misery, poverty and unemployment to the people. We have learnt our lesson and we want to live in peace provided we are able to resolve our genuine problems. We want to alleviate poverty, achieve prosperity, and provide education and health facilities and employment to our people and not waste our resources on bombs and ammunition, that is the message I want to give to PM Modi,” he added.

He said, “We are nuclear powers, armed to the teeth and if God forbid a war breaks out who will live to tell what happened.”

He said Saudi Arabia was a friendly and brotherly country, and they had unique brotherly relations for centuries.

Before Pakistan came into being and carved out of India, millions of Muslims had brotherly relations with Saudi Arabia and they were visiting Makkah and Medina, he recalled.

The PM said the UAE was a second home for millions of Pakistanis and as prime minister, he had undertaken a successful visit to the country. He said Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed was an affectionate brother and great supporter of Pakistan and wanted the people of Pakistan to progress and become prosperous. Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan was also a great friend of Pakistan and Pakistan was in his soul.

“Leadership of Pakistan and Gulf countries have resolved to cooperate with each other in the realm of trade and culture and project Islam as a religion of peace and shun all forms of terrorism. We are working together as strategic partners,” he added.

The prime minister said Pakistan’s woes and difficulties would not have decreased without the tangible and substantial support of the brotherly Gulf countries and Saudi Arabia, who were reliable and trustworthy partners. He said the Pakistani nation was resilient and brave, and it would stand on its own feet by promoting trade and investment.

He only said it to a news anchor so it doesn't mean much and probably won't happen.

IK had said the same to a Russian channel if I'm not mistaken.

If Kashmir had a solution like this it would have been solved time ago, not now when India is in a stronger position than ever.

The LOC has been cold.

Why bring it up now? You think they will try to make LOC the international border?

Not sure but I don't think it's that easy (or worth it)

India also funds various insurgencies/NGOs in other parts of Pakistan like Balochistan, so if it is to become LOC I assume they would at least get the concession for India to stop that, but then the idea of trust comes in, will they truly stop, especially after the LOC is made IB?

I also don't see why India would agree to it, Pakistan is weak, for the first time in decades the narrative has Pakistan on the edge more than India, but luckily the nukes prevent India from making a move against Azad Kashmir

Why would india needs to talks about on india's held kashmir...

Yes, issue is pending of Pak kashmir and GB, aksai chin and indian held J&k.

Practically, border issues has solved a long ago but politically, beating the same dead horse again and again..

Kashmir issue is done and dusted. The punishment for incompetence and laziness is for everyone to see.
'62 was probably the last realistic time to take it.

Pakistan should agree to make LOC as IB, on two conditions - treat the Kashmiris with respect, and stop supporting militancy in Pakistan.

But I really don't think Pakistan has the appetite left or ability to achieve their desires in Kashmir.

Realistically what is there left to do?

No, it would have been 1962 if Ayub Khan had taken the initiative. But instead, that retard decides to go solo after three years and fails, keeping the situation cold.

That's what I said, '62, when the Chinese were pounding them

But the Americans pressured Ayub Khan, and supported India a lot, he wrote about it in his book I'm pretty sure, "Friends Not Masters".

I have a feeling that the Prime Minister is ventriloquist's puppet. So, the ventriloquist is saying let's call it a day and move on. Some important gears are moving just before the car is running out of gas.

Pakistan or Human rights mean zilch to Indian state and their policy, thanks to our people in power and West's interests in India for making it possible.

India will not listen to any of Pakistan pleas to stop terrorism hence it for our coward
elites to decide how to tackle this issue.

Lastly, India will not accept Pakistan even if we surrender everything at this stage.

My bad; my mind was reading it as '65 for some reason. It's almost 2 AM here finishing up some files and going to hit the bed. Lol.

They should have kept up the insurgency or started it back up again. There are enough Afghan, whereas you have to point and tell them to shoot, and they'll do it barefooted.
