Russia-Ukraine War - News and Developments PART 2

The Russians Are Counterattacking Along The Entire Front Line. Military Summary For 2023.08.08

i dont trust this kind of newspaper stuff. Apart from the hue & cry in newspapers, Nato led forces have not made any minor or major contribution at all. Thats from my military sources.

NATO had nothing to do with the spanking of Wagner in Syria, so why are you deflecting?
You not trusting anything not coming from Russian propaganda channels, makes you irrelevant.

First batch of US Abrams tanks officially approved for shipment to Ukraine

From CNN's Natasha Bertrand

The first batch of Abrams tanks that the US is providing to Ukraine was approved for shipment over the weekend, and the tanks are on track to arrive in Ukraine by early fall, Army Acquisition Chief Doug Bush said on Monday.
“They are done,” Bush told reporters in a briefing. “Now they have to get to Europe, and then to Ukraine, along with all of the things that go with them. Ammunition, spare parts, fuel equipment, repair facilities. So you know, it's not just the tanks, it's the full package that goes with it. That's still on track.”
The US began training the Ukrainians on the tanks in May in Germany, CNN reported. The 31 tanks destined for Ukraine had been undergoing refurbishment and preparation for shipment for several months, and were officially approved to be transferred over the weekend.
The US dramatically accelerated the time it normally takes to ship the tanks by deciding earlier this year to transfer the older M1-A1 models instead of the more modern version of the tank.

Putin can claim Wagner is illegal group who has no tie with Russia . after all they attempted a coupe and they get exiled .
honestly from day one i had my doubt about sincerity of that move by Pirozhgin., i always taught it was a plan designed by Putin and him to move Wagner outside Russia for later use

about the russia give nuke to belarus i guess the reson is the same as why usa gave nuke to Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey
Your assertion can have some merit. Russia can claim its exiled (and possible the whole thing had been staged) Wagner is however not a guerilla force that is used to fighting an asymmetric war. It is an extension of military that operates under a separate pay package. In Africa, it is actually attacking the resistance and so it was in Syria.

Here, as a regular infantry, not trained in guerilla warfare, they may interfere but there survivability is measured in weeks before they cease to exist.

“You know its bad when even cnn”
No thats allowing some freedom of independant press instead of jailing/murdering opposition leaders and sentencing anyone with a wrong opinion on the war to 15 years in prison.
Cnn conducts these polls regularly.

But it is a bad development that after 1,5 year american public support drops so much. As i said before…if republicans win elections that would probably have big impact to support.

Geopolitically grinding russia down for what is a meager amount of USA spending is a huge win…but the public seems blind to that. It seems americans are turning into their own shell again like start ww1 and start ww2. We saw how that worked out (not).

Self proclaimed defenders/arsenal of democracy??
And there-in lies the irony and ability to resist pain and / or not meet the attention span (due to ADD) in a prosperous western society.

Russia through shear fist can have its people withstand more pain and use media to make it everybody's patriotic duty.

NATO populations lose attention fast, and Governments can influence news cycle by accentuating certain events but cannot control the news cycle.

It is very likely in a year that support withers if Ukraine does not show significant progress either in Crimea or eastern UK.

If that were to happen:
1. Current occupied territory becomes semi-permanent
2. Ukraine continues to harass Crimea (assuming bridge is not wiped out before)
3. Putin could claim victory. But it will be poorer, de-instrualized, no path back to prosperity back from oil exports.
4. It may have gotten a piece of Ukraine and prevented Ukraine joining NATO but instead its northwestern border is now 100% NATO. Not sure if Putin had to do it again, this is the outcome he would have wanted

I am sorry to hear that but I dont believe those numbers

but also Ukraine has not really got that much armour and and until very recently has not really been doing armoured warfare

if Ukraine was equipped like Poland with heavy armour you would see 1000s of destroyed vehicles because Russia would just have a field day with so many targets

Ukraine has been fighting a unconventional fighting retreat until few month ago

Do you see Russian jets flying over Kyiv and having a field day above well-protected spaces?

What is stopping Russia from wiping out massed Ukrainian formations near the front lines with jets?

So much for Russia having a field day with Poland-level defenses and destroying thousands of vehicles.

Mark my words: Russia cannot defeat NATO-backed Poland in war, cannot even breach its borders.

Polish air defence is much better as well. Russian missiles will be shot down.

Read following post to understand why Ukraine could be invaded:

US is able penetrate well-defended spaces with its incredible stealth attack platforms. This is how US was able to shatter integrated defenses of Iraq in 1991 and Yugoslavia in 1999. Russia does not have this capability.

Summer Operations | The Russians Advanced In Kupyansk. Landing Operation. Military Summary 2023.08.8

tanks on border , i rather they deployed enough man beside them , those tanks will have hard time countering lancet and atgms
Combined arms
That’s what a modem arny needs.
Just a weapon here and there never succeeds
The NATO and the German army criticize Ukraine offensive because lack of combined arms operations. A coordinated assault with all arms combined, not one after the other, artillery, air assault then infantry then tanks.
Ukraine army is much a copy of Russia army.

I am afraid the polish border will be better guarded then that handfull of border guards russia had.

Dead wagners always cheer me up.
probably but consider Poland already announce its concern about Wagner infiltrated its border

We can track Iraqi throwing mortar into green zone, we can track Taliban shooting RPG into Bagram, do you think we can't track someone launching a drone attack??
not hart at the time of iran iraq war our expert also could go to a mortar or cannon landing site and say from where it launched, but what was the use , the important thing is doing it in time and your counter battery radar is useless , the atgm fly under their minimum detection height and the lancet won't use a ballistic trajectory

Social media is having very negative effects.

But in general i am suprised just how fast American public support dropped for ukraine.

America squandered so much good will and leverage/influence by lying about Weapons of Mass Destruction and sitting in a desert for 20 years.
It is biting them now.
They cannot even control their public view in a situation that is much more black and white (russian agressor) and actually benefits them geopolitcally instead of only benefitting their defence industry.

What use is that 800 billion budget if not for such matters? I guess its for arming themselves on their way to the next american civil war cause its rapidly turning into a deeply divided shithole.

@RoadAmerica
Gotta arm yourself for them race wars/civil wars right?

Yeah its definately not a win for russia either. Though he will be able to make it seem that way internally and for gullible idiots abroad.

Problem is that then he and his clique will remain in power, and this new cold war will drag on for decades.
Not good for russia
Not good for europe
Not good for the world except USA/China/India.

Congrats

For the first time ever Ukraine border guards downed one of Russia’s most modern multipurpose hightec drones.

Seems the russians managed a more comprehensive and capable defence then expected after digging in for 6 months there, while ukraine has too little material/experience to perform a proper combined arms breakthrough. Especially up against vast minefields.

Its turned into a slog.
Some positives is that russia is losing a lot as well, and seems to be losing the artillery edge.

@jhungary do you still predict a breakthrough late fall? Im starting to think we should prepare for mostly fixed frontlines till next year spring.
