Pakistan Football News & Discussions - August 2022 .

It's incredibly frustrating to see Pakistani media completely absorbed with cricket captaincy changes, utterly neglecting the groundbreaking football match our team is about to play against Saudi Arabia. This pivotal moment for Pakistani football is being overshadowed by endless cricket speculation. The media's blatant disregard for such a significant event in another sport is both angering and deeply disappointing. It's high time our media outlets recognize and give due importance to milestones beyond the cricket field.

Fair complaint. Perhaps the team needs to do more to prove itself? Let's see.

Your observation is certainly valid. Expectations for our national team are a natural part of the sport. It's important to remember that improvement often happens step by step in football. Our team has the potential to grow and evolve, and with time, hard work, and support, we can look forward to witnessing their progress and achievements on the field.

Well I watched bit and pieces of the game

2-0 was respectable considering Saudia Arabia is a very Strong Football Nation , comparable to Brazil or Portugal

4-0 was bit harsh result

I was however impressed with Technical Level by the team, Pakistani Team

  • Keeping the ball on the ground
  • Attempt to play positive Football
  • Using height advantage

Technically a very respectable performance seems like the New Coach and players have put in some effort to be well organized

Will rewatch the highlights for first half as I only watched few parts of second half when score went from 2-0 to 4-0

i wont be surprised if mbs put 1000s in each pakistanis players shorts, that too from behind to lose the ball.

2 goals in stoppage time - had they held on its only 2-0. You guys need to appreciate quite how limited Pakistani football is. The current team is punching above its weight.
In Pakistan people take Cricket seriously, not association football, lol.

Disappointing we lost. Pakistan played good. We just have to back these players and the manager.

Technically it was a 1-0 result in first half
Second half it was 2-0

Till last min , and then there was a Mental Collapse , 3-0 and 4-0

2-0 was the actual result , in last 2 min team just collapsed mentally but you are facing best team in Asia

The biggest change I have seen is to really trying to play it on the ground and clean passing

It's going to take a top to bottom coaching structure on a national level as well as a national academy like the French have to build quality across generations.

The Pakistani Root level playing is horrible , due to bumpy fields , often players kick the ball High up in air , and then chase , the other player who receives also kicks it up high in air

However this Pakistani Team was playing rather cleanly on ground against one of best passing teams in Asia

Sometimes the 4-0 May look bad but what matters is how you approach the game and what is your intent , playing cleanly / passing and organization

Guys, this was not a full-strength Pakistani team playing against Saudi Arabia. At best, this was our C team. Our main center back and best player, Easah Suliman, was injured. Etzaz Hussain, Adil Nabi, and McKeal Abdullah were supposed to join for round 2, but bureaucracy delayed their arrival. Their absence against a strong team like Saudi Arabia massively impacted us. We missed crucial defense, midfield control, and attacking power, leading to a significant struggle in maintaining a competitive edge in the match. If Hussain, Nabi, and Abdullah had been on the field, the team dynamics could have been drastically different. Their participation might have bolstered the team’s performance, showing a more competitive side of Pakistan against an Asian football powerhouse like Saudi Arabia.

Here's what our starting 11 should have been, highlighting the missed opportunity to showcase our full potential:
