Russia & Pakistan's Growing Engagement

well sir you are write ?????????but the thing is who serves russian interests better? india ..which buys almost 30-40% of all russian arms or Pakistan which is very unpredictable ally...US being the latest victim + has no cash!!!!!!!! & now rubbing showlders with China which less said the better????????

my freind the hard fact is russians learned the lesson the hard way & do you think they are emotional?????????/

i guess Russians are anything but Emotional or say predictable when your talking national interests & BIG money ...Thanks .

It all comes down to interests. As i said before there are no permanent friends just permanent interests. And what do you mean by US being the latest viticm? Victim of what exactly. Even Indians agree on the US double dealings and if anyone who is victim here, its Pakistan.

On a side note why are there so many question marks in ur post?

I would hate to be dealing with the Russian Government, best wishes for FM Rabbani Khar.

Good work by Pakistan .... Russia is more reliable then US.

& about India, no one can affect Indo-Russia relations by just giving access a route to anywhere...

Pakistan is doing this for themselves,& russia off course will take this on hand just to cultivate the bitterness between Pak & US..

About being reliable, i don't think we are opening up to Russia just because its more reliable, because we won't be dealing with stuff that has realibility issues for now. And yes its too early to even predict or say that this can effect Indo Russian ties because one would be naive to believe so but on the other hand India still will look at it with caution. Like i said the thorn in all of this is India.

Relations always comes with a cost.....
The relation could be economic, military or strategic one...
Well im no expert in foreign policy...
But i wonder what kind of relationship will pakistan and russia have????
A military one is highly unlikely...hope i dont have to explain it...
Economic relation sounds good...
It would help pakistan greatly in the long run i guess...
Strategic relation is also good because of the geaography...
All comes down on how well pakistan play its cards...

^^ so true manuz bhai couln't have said it better specially this part

good post,Thanks again

It is heartening to see this paradigm shift taking place. Pakistan should disentangle herself from the poisonous embrace of WCC/Zionists. However, such a fundamental break can be effected only under a popular/patriotic/powerful leadership. Liaqat Ali Khan was assassinated when he was planning a break-through trip to Soviet Union. Ayub was trapped into 1965 War, made unpopular and dethroned when he began showing signs of becoming wary of the Americans. Ayub's first fault was his overtures to Nehru in 1962 - which was spurned by Nehru, another WCC agent. Then after the 65 War he was trying his best to befriend USSR and PRC. There are too many WCC "sleepers"/agents in the corridors of power in Pakistan to imagine the project to be undertaken will be smooth.

Pakistan should stop trying to befriend Russia because our indian friend says that Russia is not a trustworthy friend, they(the Russians) will certainly pass classified information to india. Our indian friend deserves a thank from the Pakistani members of this forum.;)

How trust worthy Pakistan is Indian's are well aware of this and we want Russians to open their eyes dealing with Pakistan, this MIGHT give further rise to Chechen revolt.

Russians- No
i dont trust the russians- we hv a history of lot of unfinished businesses-
If you can't trust on russia then u can't trust on anyone..
ontopic : Its now in russia's interest as US influence is now at the end in indian ocean..
So thats the perfect time for them to take the control, they will surely ask for access to some of your region..May be karakoram highway,to get the access for trade route..
As they r member s of sco, they can easily get access to it(via. china)..

Utter nonsense ...

What kind of relationship does Pakistan gov think they are going to go for ?

Specially when the Russians know that Pakistan's international clout is at the lowest, and almost at war footings with NATO/US.
They know we don't have a lot of cards to play in this game, and thus they will shape the relationship from a point where they are advantageous.

This will again land Pakistan in trouble, if not immediately maybe after 5-10 years.

In principle this is the mistake Liaqat Ali Khan made, when going for relationship with USA. Instead of a bilateral relationship he sold us out.

Time to learn from the Indians, and balance Russia AND NATO and milk of them , instead of letting them wean us.
Relationships are made for mutual benefit, and every benefit has a cost associated to it.
Some thing Foreign office should learn by now.

Oh that is just silly.

I think Chinese are encouraging Pakistan and Russia closer. This may well be the embryonic phase of a block to counter American influence in the area
