The Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Asif Sandila has said that Pakistan Navy is working on a plan to develop a balanced naval fleet. He said that Pakistan is facing an enemy which is expanding its naval fleet well beyond its defensive requirements.

He said that introduction of PNS Alamgir (F-260) and support ships have increased Pakistani operational capabilities. Admiral Asif Sandila added that Pakistan Navy will induct new fast attack missile crafts, frigates and P-3C Orion anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircrafts in future to increase its capabilities.

I think many people have criticized it and they have opted to go with F-22Ps and Type-54s joint development with China.

and from whom is the enemy required to protect its energy line? from pakistan..that was what it was being stated..beyound its requirement means unnecessary inductions of ACC

PN needs 'balance' in its account to have a balanced navy!

the good CNS is only talking about weapons systems which are in the 'pipeline' - no mention of subs!!!

anti-submarine/ship capabilities should be increase and the subs fleet expanded, it is very essential I believe. anti air destroyers would be goof too

The "enemy" has to protect is energy supply from the gulf in the Arabian sea and its trade with the east in the south china sea

Hey, who said "the enemy" had to maintain purely defensive capabilities? If "the enemy" has the capability and the resources to expand and expand, why not? Afterall "the enemy" has plans well beyond purely the IOR and is well on its way to being a true blue-navy.

Unless Pak doesn't have a Naval Air Arm it wont be Balanced .
PAF has earmarked some of its assets for naval use (I think a squadron or Mirages at least). AFAIK, some of the JFTs will have specialized anti ship capabilities (C-802/803) which implies that PAF is likely to continue with its tradition.

does Pakistan has a plan for developing destroyers and more frigates?
