Indonesia warns of 'mistrust' over US base in Australia, Supports China

thats biggest load of crap i heard.. there is never any racist attitudes towards indonesia... and majority of australia thinks the drug mules and smugglers are idiots and should not even get financial help in regards to lawyers

Your ignorance is not my concern. Just look at the racist media hysteria after Schapelle Corby (guilty), the Bali Nine (guilty), the rich brat who was bragging about his drugs, and another one who got caught recently. In every case, the media went on a racist rampage about Indonesia.

The nonsense you wrote in your post has nothing to do with the topic. Stay on topic or don't respond.

It has everything to do with the topic. You never know when the racist Australian media will drum up anti-Indonesia racist fervor and what it could lead to.

thats a stupid comment to make mate, you have no clue!!!

Like your fellow Indian, your ignorance is not my concern.

China's peaceful rise can not be stooped no matter what uncle sam tries. A super power china will ensure peace & stability in
Asia which is a must.

The racist white australian media defends ....2 asians?

Oh what about that news program that showed footage of Schapelle Corby rehearsing lines to make the australian public feel sorry for her oh yes very biased.

What about the the racist white australian media that shows countless reports on racial abuses to Aboriginal Australians but when you get 1 on tv saying **** off out of there country the word racist isnt brought up?hmmm yes very racist.

No developeroreo accept that indonesia isnt a saint and that neither are its laws and stop looking at everything from a 1 sided view and secondly stop trying to act like your opposing racism when all your doing is reverse racism.

Oh and stop turning every australian topic on this forum about ******* racism when your the 1 with the clear problem.

If we're so biased torwards Indonesia how is it whats happening in West Papau is never brought up?

I dont dispute that australians in indonesia shouldnt respect there laws but you just claim your usual anti-australian bullshit.

Apparently bringing up the attention of Australians overseas is racist now.

The racist white australian media defends ....2 asians?

Yes, the coverage was against Indonesia. Just because the criminals they are defending happen to be Asian-Australian doesn't change anything. They are simply using whatever they can get to drum up racism against Indonesia.

Oh what about that news program that showed footage of Schapelle Corby rehearsing lines to make the australian public feel sorry for her oh yes very biased.

You are probably the only person on this planet who thinks the broad media coverage of Schapelle Corby was anything short of a racist media circus. Everything from the police to the justice system to the country itself was attacked.

Corby's whole family became media celebrities as 'victims' of the evil Indonesians, even though Australia's top cop Mick Keelty himself didn't buy her story.

The topic here is Indonesia. Try and control your brain aneurisms.

Stop your whining and stop defending racism just because it suits your prejudice. The issue here is the Australian media's coverage of Indonesia every time an Aussie drug smuggler gets caught red-handed. When Vietnam or other South East Asian countries hang Aussie drug dealers to death, there is no media circus. Only when Indonesia catches them.

Oh and stop turning every australian topic on this forum about ******* racism when your the 1 with the clear problem.

Speaking of racism, I am sure you will now show us your white skin to 'prove' your Australian-ness.

all the stuff you have said is overwhelmly disputed by everyone, it is utter and complete nonsense, and the only one who is trying to drum up any racism is YOU. i guess indonesias latest spat about usa putting 250 - 2000 troops eventually in australia is racist too?? well by your way of thinkign anyway...

but by any reasonable mind.. we think no its just a disagreement ... same with the bali nine idiots.

What is 'overwhelmly disputed by everyone'? Where is your proof of your claims?

I am talking about TV and radio coverage at the height of the Corby and Bali Nine fiascos. If you weren't in Australia at the time, then you won't know. Here's a small para from wikipedia which gives a faint glimpse of the absolute media hysteria that swpt the country. Keep in mind that law enforcement in both Indonesia and Australia didn't believe her bullshit excuse.

Schapelle Corby - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There was considerable media interest in and popular discussion of Schapelle Corby's predicament. The conspiracy theory that Australian baggage handlers had placed the drugs in her baggage received some attention. For many months, every minor development in the case was highlighted on prime time TV. For example, a minor "collapse" in the court engendered much erroneous speculation that she was pregnant by her former financial backer, Ron Bakir.[47]

A poll commissioned and published in June 2005 by the Sydney Morning Herald found that opinion was divided whether Corby was guilty but there was a perception that the trial had not been carried out fairly.[48] In Australia, over 100,000 people signed a petition that they believe Corby should be freed. In Indonesia, however, about 40 protesters gathered on 5 June 2005 at the Australian embassy in Jakarta calling for Corby to receive the death sentence and carrying placards with comments such as '"Corby, drug dealer, must die"'.[49]

On 3 March 2008, pictures of what were said to be Corby and her sister Mercedes were shown on A Current Affair, taken after tourists noticed the women having dinner at a bar at Kuta, a town near the Bali airport. Rose denied that it was them.[50]

A documentary concerning Corby's arrest, trial and imprisonment, Ganja Queen, was produced by Janine Hosking and Steve Hosking in 2007. An extended version, Schapelle Corby: The Hidden Truth, was aired on Australian television by the Nine Network in June 2008.[51]

According to opinion polls at the time of Corby's arrest in 2004, most Australians believed her to be innocent.[52] A Nielsen poll conducted in August 2010 found that 10 per cent of Australians believed she was innocent. Most Australians believe Corby should have her 20-year prison sentence reduced.[52]

The Corby case angered many,[who?] who contrasted her prosecution with the lighter sentence given to Indonesian Abu Bakar Bashir, the alleged leader of the terrorist group which carried out the 2002 Bali bombings, killing over 200 people including 88 Australians.[53]

After Corby's conviction, sales of luggage locks increased, and people filmed their luggage as a precautionary effort.[54]

In early 2009, publicity agent Stephen Moriarty was appointed to represent the Corby family. A deal was agreed with New Idea magazine for a series of front cover stories to run throughout the year. The deal is thought to be worth $100,000.[55]

Do you deny that the Indonesian police and justice system get called into question every time an Aussie dope dealer is caught there? Do you deny that calls for boycott surface every time one of these criminals gets apprehended and is then portrayed as a martyr on Australian media?

thats wikipedia.. how is that australian media??

and every person is entitled to an opinion, hence why a lot of people believe she was set up, if you read abou the case and what happened etc you would probably form an opinion whether she is guilty or not... and we all know indonesia has many corrupt officers etc, and who is to say no one placed the drugs in the boogie bag? i think her father was a drug dealer so it wouldnt suprise me if she was really guilty.

when i go overseas i make sure my bags are locked as much as possible, who knows maybe you could be coming out of plane and notice drug sniffer dogs etc and someone behind you places drugs in your bag knowing they were about to be caught? it can happen.. better safe then sorry.

i find this hard to believe since in australia is it against the law to profit from crime, and these news agency are not allowed to pay for this stuff, the money if it was true would have to go to charity!.

also new idea is not a news agency, it is a gossip column lol

and yes we have every right to be angry abotu abu bakar basheer, this terrorist ordered bombings that killed hundred of australians and other westerners and he gets how long in jail?? corby takes a load of marijuana which is a pretty placid and harmless drug in comparison with other drugs and she gets 20 years???

that is a joke!.

Do you deny that the Indonesian police and justice system get called into question every time an Aussie dope dealer is caught there? Do you deny that calls for boycott surface every time one of these criminals gets apprehended and is then portrayed as a martyr on Australian media?

yes i do deny that they get called into question everytime there is a bust, however westerners are deliberately targeted in SOME cases, such as that as the bali boy, a 14 year old who looks over 18, he was approached by someone wanting to sell him drugs saying he needs the money to survive etc, this kid thought why not, he likes marijuana anyway and would be helping this kid, and is it not convenient the police were right there as it happened... yeh must just be coincidence huh....

that view is not racist, it is realistic

100 thousand people our of a population of 22 million lol.. and i can garuntee you everyone i met didnt believe her either lol.. she is guilty, her dad was a very well known drug dealer...

none of them were potrayed as a matyr, but our government does try to take care of its own.. nothing wrong with that.

and what boycott?? ohh you must be talkign in regards to indonesia inhumanely killing livestock.. yes we wanted to boycott their cruelty, if it is done in australia it is punished, and we expect our livestock to be killed humanely as per agreements.

thats wikipedia.. how is that australian media??

The article describes the Australian media frenzy around the case, which was the point.

and we all know indonesia has many corrupt officers etc, and who is to say no one placed the drugs in the boogie bag?

Yeah, poor innocent white Schappelle Corby was framed by the evil, corrupt Indonesians. Like I wrote, no law enforcement officials, even in Australia, believed her story. International crime syndicates smuggle heroin and cocaine worth millions of dollars; they don't waste time with $10000 worth of marijuana. This is almost always done by small time operators -- the kind who have a brother in law with a surf shop at the beach in Bali -- which is a favorite drug spot for Western tourists.

i find this hard to believe since in australia is it against the law to profit from crime, and these news agency are not allowed to pay for this stuff, the money if it was true would have to go to charity!.

The money is paid to her family. They are not convicted of any crime and can profit all they want.

The Bali blast killed under 300 people at one occasion. Drugs kill thousands (10,000?) Indonesians every year. You can bet they have ZERO tolerance for drug dealers. As do all East Asian countries.

You just proved my point. A spoiled rich Australian brat who has a HISTORY of doing drugs buys a stash at a massage parlor and BRAGS about it to everyone within earshot. And you are saying that he was a victim of the evil Indonesians.

Did the evil Indonesians come to his house in Australia and sell him drugs before he went to Bali?

Once again, to repeat myself, no one in professional law enforcement -- including AFP -- believed her nonsense excuse.

well the australia media is more reliable then any media in your country, and as a free nation, we can bring into question anything, in any case, the majority of australians believe she IS guilty.. it is as simple as that.

secondly, if you know anything about drug smuggling, you would know for a hypothetical example, in corrupt countries especially, for every 1 drug mule that gets caught, another 10 are allowed through, this pleases the countries governments and other countries while the drug smugglers are happy also, they make a small loss yet a great gain from those who are actually let through... who knows, she could of been the scapegoat so the guy with 2 kg of heroin could get through ;).. actually it is quite funny i just remembered... why would an australian smuggle drugs into indonesia??? there is no profit to be made there at all?? they would lose money selling it over there?? so why would corby smuggle drugs into indonesia?? usually it is the other way around, you smuggle drugs out of indonesia... if drugs in indonesia are a problem, indonesians and other asian nations are to blame, australians get drugs FROM there, they dont take drugs OVER THERE!!... hence why a lot of people do think corby is innocent and set up... why would a aussie smuggle marijuana into indonesia?? there is no realistic view as to why anyone would?

so your saying terrorist activies and deliberately killing innocent people is not as bad as drugs who only kill those who CHOSE to use it, are not the slightest bit innocent!!?? .

well the australia media is more reliable then any media in your country,

My country is Australia.

why would an australian smuggle drugs into indonesia??? there is no profit to be made there at all?? they would lose money selling it over there?? so why would corby smuggle drugs into indonesia?? usually it is the other way around, you smuggle drugs out of indonesia...

There are different types of drugs, and weed is a particular favorite with Western tourists. Beach-side surf shops are the usual venue. Apparently, marijuana in Bali fetches 4-5 times what it does in Australia. She and her friends had a nice little cottage industry going.

Here's an interesting read:

Why Shappelle Corby is guilty [Archive] - Aussie Phorums

When she was first caught, she said that the indonesians planted the
drugs to frame her. When they showed video evidence that the drugs were
already in the bag, she changed her story to some baggage handler
putting them in there. Then she lied about only being to Bali on one
previous occasion when in fact she'd been there at least 4 times. Then
she denied that her brother had a surf shop in Bali, but later when
asked about her going to Bali 4 times in 1999, said she was helping her
brother out in his surf shop. Plus the big unanswered question is, why
did she bring over a boogie board when not only can't she surf, but she
could have borrowed one from her brother. There's only one explanation
to all these lies and story-changing. She purposely brought in drugs
with the knowledge that in the off-chance she was caught, she'd say the
indonesians planted it and hoped that the Australian govt would step in
and intervene.

so your saying terrorist activies and deliberately killing innocent people is not as bad as drugs who only kill those who CHOSE to use it, are not the slightest bit innocent!!?? .

Why do countries go after drug lords, drug smugglers and drug dealers? According to you, they should just punish the users.
