Indian IT firms employ over 1 lakh in US: Report

i dont know abt aus. but here in canada and us, all engineering companies are filled with 60% chinese and 30% indians. i work in Advanced micro devices (AMD) as an engineering coop. its an american company and everyone in my team is a chinese or south korean, not a single white guy is even seen in my building. all engineering jobs in north america have been taken over by indians and chinese. so i wont be very surprised if indian company in us also has a similiar pattern.

not just companies, i study in waterloo uni as ece. we consider ourselves lucky if we see 1 white kid in engineering class. u find them in 1st year but they dont last till 2nd and switch over to commerce or arts. i am not jooking. this is truth. the next gen of engineers is being dominated heavily by chinese and then indians.

When ever i go to these companies I love seen that love it love it all you see is brown every where Love it.

An H1-B visa holder is not entitled to the same rights as an immigrant or citizen. It is perfectly legal to reject a H1-B visa transfer applicant, simply because of their visa status.

I am absolutely 100% positive.

P.S. I just did a quick search on monster.com

Industrial Engineer - Medical Device (Fulltime/Permanent - Direct Hire) Job in New Brunswick 08901, New Jersey US

No sponsorship visa (H1-B, etc) candidates at this time, sorry.

This is for not sponsoring a visa. Situation changes when you are already in the States with a valid H1B

Even if there was a preference allowed, no one is forced to choose one over the other!

Begani shaadi me Abdullah diwana. ;)

No phobia here mate.

There is a thing called emotional literacy, being aware of one's own emotions. Read Emotional intelligence by Goleman.

If you actually believe what you mention here, you have a severe lack of emotional awareness.

If you were trying to lie, you suck at it.

Either ways, not very good for you.

Just tired of the Indian misinformation campaigns.

There is no bragging??????

There is no group of people who brag more. The Brag/Achievement ratio is off the chart for Indians.

In fact, if this forum is anything to go by, I have the same opinion now for you folks.

Though I don't let it bother me.

Now this post of yours told me everything about you and your high IQ, pathetic ilk.

I can assure you it's definitely not jealousy. China has already achieved manned space flight and is a good 15 to 20 years ahead of India. It's more like a giant facepalm.

50 / 50 chance the first Indian astronauts are deadmeat. Then I'll have to suffer through months of bad Indian astronaut jokes in America. Then I'll have to read angry, racist British comments in Daily Mail about why the UK government is giving foreign aid to these guys to burn up astronauts. Then there will be all the posts on PDF about how the dead astronauts are national heroes and success is only the next launch away. Basically, one giant mega facepalm. You know it. I know it.

I could retort that your parents are deadmeat the first time you drive with them. And I have to suffer through months of jokes about why they allow such people with limited field of vision to drive.

I won't do that.

That is the difference between civilized people and zombies.

This is getting silly. You are welcome to believe what you will.

A H1-B transfer still requires a sponsorship. You are changing your sponsor.

Actually it is getting silly.. The issue is not whether such partial selection is allowed legally or not.. The issue is that H1B, L1 or PR, the jobs are part of the local economy of USA and thats exactly what Nascomm said. Interpretation by individuals is not the responsibility of Nascomm.

How difficult it can be to understand that all people with valid work visa in USA form the pool of potential employees for all firms to choose from!

Now it is up to the firms to choose whoever they want and the choice of employees to work for the firms they want.

Can't believe this silly canard has been repeated ad infinitum!

Nice try to shift the goal posts. Your claim was specifically that this was illegal. Now you are going back to the interpretation canard which was already debated. I already addressed the disingenuous nature of the wording. If you disagree, fine.

Like I wrote, if someone said, "Company X is employing 100,000 people in India", most people would interpret that to mean Indian residents, not foreigners stationed in India on a work visa.

No shifting of goal posts dude.. I still believe that employers can not discriminate against individuals who are already in the country but I may be wrong but that wont change the base discussion about Indian companies adding jobs and revenue to the American economy

Like I wrote, if someone said, "Company X is employing 100,000 people in India", most people would interpret that to mean Indian residents, not foreigners stationed in India on a work visa.

And the reason for that is that India does not have a foreign worker program that actively seeks skilled labor from other countries, unlike a USA or Canada or Australia.. You make the same statement about these countries, and people who know these countries well will not make that mistake in interpretation..

Look, Vinod, I don't really have a problem with you when you are not calling us Manchu cattle or anything blatantly racist. And yes, I can admit it, East Asians in general are horrible drivers. In my lifetime, Jeremy Lin has proven we can play professional basketball with the best African Americans, but we'll probably never see a Chinese-American Formula 1 driver that's any good. And the horrible driving has nothing to do with slanted eyes or field of vision, I just think East Asians are easily distracted when driving. Cell phones and in-car gadgets have only made the problem worst.

Now back on topic. If Indian IT really created 175,000 American IT jobs, Americans would definitely feel it. For example, Wipro would go to a top 5 American school and tell the professors they will hire anybody and everybody that graduates from this program. How do I know, because it happened to me. When I was an undergrad, that's exactly what Accenture did. They offered $60 to $75k to every undergrad out of my program (this is mid- 1990's $60,000). Do we see that with Indian IT firms in US colleges now and Accenture has fewer employees today than in the 1990s???

And do you even know how an typical IT projects works in an American bank or MNC. It's usually 50 to 60 full-time "consultants" from PWC or Accenture installing/integrating one piece of enterprise software over two years with a $25 million dollar budget. That $25 million IT project has a 50%+ chance of complete failure. The more Indians on the project, the higher the failure rate. So how many of those $25 million dollar IT projects do you think there has been in the US these past few years at a time of zero growth?? Enough to support 175,000 new Indian IT company hires?? Ridiculous.

You and I know this is a political misinformation campaign to make Americans believe Indians are a net benefit to the US economy. There are many who believe the exact opposite. There are people who actually keep track of the good American companies Indian-American management has completely destroyed. One example is the esteemed Bell Labs. The list is huge, so I won't waste my time on it.

Mate you need to read more carefully before writing. Let me lay this out for you..

Indian IT companies have 107K employees in the US
out of which approax 65 K are foreign nationals on Work visas
42K are US local residents
These 107 K direct jobs in the US created by Indian companies result in an echo system of 175K indirect jobs supporting these jobs which are mostly held by local Americans. These jobs are not in the Indian IT companies but tertiary industries that support a local population..

Hope its clearer now..

You can keep adjusting the numbers mate. That's fine. I recognize spin when I see it.

Given how Indians exaggerate. I'm betting the real number is around 17,500 Americans. That's how many new American jobs in the US were actually created in the US by Indian IT firms during this recession. If you add up the announcement of actual American hires from Indian giants like Infosys in the past few years, that 17k to 25k sounds about right.

Really? I remember reading your very first post where you claimed India had no building of its own! That told me something. Your posts consistently try to show that Indians are incapable of achieving anything good. Same for some others.

You perhaps don't realize what it depicts you as: a pathetic wannabe bully that has been bullied for centuries and trying to now bully others. Only no one seems impressed. Every try only evokes more contempt.

I have nothing against China or the Chinese. I am happy for their progress and have always called it a fellow great ancient civilization that should provide leadership to the world as one of the major poles.

Some people (you in particular but others as well) have caused me to rethink some of my ideas about at least some Chinese. My personal experience with the Chinese is still positive so I consider the lot here as a non representative sample still. That may change if I see too many more like you.

I am not a racist person and I believe in human equality for all.

Instead of anecdotes, try something more credible. The rolls of Indian companies in US would be accessible to those who matter. Let them disprove the claim.

And do you even know how an typical IT projects works in an American bank or MNC. Now don't blame me if I call you Indian phobe! Any proof of this assertion?

May be a chaos report that makes this correlation?

Another Indian phobe piece of BS. Ans you want to believe otherwise! ;)
