Asian broadcast giant Nimbus has expressed willingness in organising the Pakistan Premier League (PPL), a well-informed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) source said.

According to PTI, a representative for Nimbus sports met with the PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf and other officials and delivered a presentation in this regard.

“Basically Nimbus is interested in just organising the PPL for a fee but has not shown interest in procuring rights for the event,” the source said.

“But the fact that an Indian company has shown interest in the PPL has come as a encouraging sign for the PCB.”

PPL has generated quite a bit of interest amongst the Pakistan business community as well but to bring it on par with the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) a big Indian stake will be required, according to the source cited.

“At the presentations most of those people who gave presentations made it clear that finances needed to be generated from the Indian and other markets to sustain such a major league including the franchises,” the source added.

“The PCB at present is looking at a sale out price of around 4 to 4.5 million dollars for a franchise.”

The Pakistani board has been very keen on getting the PPL off the mark, keeping in mind that the return of cricket in the country seems unlikely anytime soon.

But after Bangladesh’s visit to Pakistan was halted by the Bangladesh High Court on security grounds, it remains to be seen how the board will rope in foreign players, if and when the financial and logistical aspects of the league are finalized.

Really dont see how this will be financially viable for Nimbus.

No one in India will be watch 3rd class T20 cricket in the PPL. Especially when India would be playing international cricket at the same time and with no Indians players too.

Pakistani cricket is good quality...
indian cricket has become more of a street match with no quality.

The world does not agree with you and it is to wait and watch how many countries would send their players in the so called PPL.

now india loses to bangladesh and coulnt even reach finals of asia cup.

True and there is nothing to be ashamed of loosing to BD, but they refusing to tour your country may be?

MUWAHAHA

It was all part of the plan. To let Bangladesh beat India, so that Bangladesh could go to the final and in return they would not tour Pakistan.

So win win for India as we already beat Pakistan anyway. ;)

Companies are interested in business and thats it... If you can't comprehend financial viability for nimbus in this move then its pretty much like you don't know jack **** about business. No company would invest in a non-viable project, and I don't think nimbus is run by pseudo-businessmen.

3rd class cricket! I think you are over-exaggerating the Indian cricket...IPL is famous because of international players and of course glamour it presents. How many non-Indian spectators watch ranji trophy??

That is one of the main points, why PPL wont be financially viable, and I was correct. PCB wants Nimbus to buy the rights, but Nimbus does not.

Plus India is a very big country with huge resources and talent pool and many businessmen.

I think thats the problem, I wonder how many international players PPL will be able to attract given the so called security scenario. Bangladesh trip would have helped.
