India bans Iran oil ships from its waters

Which is more profitable to India?

Using Iranian Tankers or Indian ones?

Some issues mentioned on the article:

Iranian tankers:
However, the permission to MRPL and other OMCs was revoked within days leaving them high and dry. The U.S. had imposed sanctions against National Iranian Tanker Company and its 58 vessels.

MRPL Director (Finance), Vishnu Aggarwal said that while India has got waiver from U.S. sanctions for its import of crude oil from Iran, shipping was not covered in that.

Indian tankers:
Crude oil imports from Iran are possible only if state insurers led by General Insurance Corp. (GIC) provide insurance cover for domestic ships carrying Iran crude. However, the matter for sovereign guarantee for ships is still pending resolution with the government.

On its part, it is understood that GIC had agreed to provide domestic ships a $ 50 million of cover for hull and machinery (H&M) and a similar cover for protection and indemnity (P&I) but this has been delayed as company has not got approval from the insurance regulator.

How much oil do you import from Iran?

Just checking is Fortress of Islam with Islamic Bomb doing any better.

TAPI doesn't pass through Iran, also to the best of my knowledge Pakistan doesn't import any oil from Iran.

Yeah, my bad about the TAPI part (which Iran isn't a member of).

Pakistan doesn't import any oil from Iran for now.

profitable was Iranian tankers. Because we were exchanging the oil with goods only with no transport charge But if we now use our Oil Tankers this will increase the cost. There should be a Mid solution for this.

A single ship used as tanker and a cargo. giving iran the Sugar and Cotton, etc and in return bringing the oil.

They could have imported 100% of their oil needs through pipeline from Iran..not to mention gas, yet Pakistanis have to nerve to diss India bcs we didn't allow Iranian tankers in Indian waters eventhough we are still importing oil from Iran. Personally I want India to stop import from Iran completely.

There is no such ship and AFAIK, oil and gas tankers only come close to port for repairs and maintenance.
