An interesting pressure point for military strategists in China to consider.
Powergrid uses their optical network to monitor their network using SCADA/EMSIf India uses SCADA systems that are IP based to monitor/operate power grids, then Yes!
90% i doubt this since SCADA systems are expensive and Indian power Grids mostly operated or monitored through older legacy systems which have no relation with TCP/IP Protocal.
As a matter of fact, only recently our ONGC has migrated to SCADA systems.
For decades, traditional SCADA measurements have been providing information on bus voltages, line, generator & transformer flows (MW, MVAR & Amperes), transformer taps & breaker status as well as other system parameters viz, frequency and weather data. These measurements are typically taken once every 4 or 10 seconds offering a steady state view of the power system
behavior. However, for monitoring and control of such large grid only steady state information may not be sufficient.Synchrophasor Measurement technology provides dynamic view of the grid along with information like load angle between different locations of the grid. Since Phasor Measurement Unit is a new technology which is still evolving; a pilot project has been implemented in Northern Region (NR) in India by Power grid Corporation of India Ltd in order to gain firsthand experience in use of this technology for monitoring and control of large power grids. This paper presents the details about the planning and implementation of this pilot project.
Shame on India government!
NEW DELHI (AP) -- India's energy crisis cascaded over half the country Tuesday when three of its regional grids collapsed, leaving more than 600 million people without government-supplied electricity in one of the world's biggest-ever blackouts.

Load Shedding - When the supplying company receives more demand for electrical power than its generating or transmission or installed capacity can deliver, the company has to resort to rationing of the available electricity to its customers. This act is called load shedding.[COLOR="#FF0000"oh i see Indians are trying to compete with us and trying to set world record.
chinese talking about quality? If it cant even guarantee us a basic quality of life then why should we continue our pride.

Grid Collapse - A grid collapses when the frequency falls below the lower limit of the (49.5-50.2Hz) band or increases beyond the upper limit. As a result, transmission lines stop accepting power supply and other grid constituents, including the generating stations, go offline.
Linking two different things. What an idea Sirje!
Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde blamed the new crisis on states taking more than their allotted share of electricity.
`'Everyone overdraws from the grid. Just this morning I held a meeting with power officials from the states and I gave directions that states that overdraw should be punished. We have given instructions that their power supply could be cut," he told reporters.
