at the moment the AH-1S/F will remain the workhorse of the PAA in tanded with the Bell-412 as armed recce helo. interest has been shown by PAA in acquiring

12 AH-1Z Super Cobras
T-129 Mangustu from italy (but with american engine)
Kamov - 28
Chinese WZ-10 but the engine issue has not been resolved so far.

but with procurement funds not forthcoming soon enough, the AH-1S/F fleet should soldier on for a while. it remains a potent platform

Awsome job s90 thx for sharing bro .. gota love our cobras :P

pak army aviation can never be a first class organization till the time they stop inducting low profile officers from whole of the army.

I am sorry but I beg to disagree
can you please explain what do you mean? on what bases did you make this statement? is it bases on opinion of yourself or an opinion of someone in the army you know?

I personally know a very good officer from my father's unit now flying the cobra's .. he is anything but low profile. but then again I dont have any larger pool of officers to make a judgement but maybe you do
so please share

or take this statement back where it came from

That was a pretty stupid comment.

I know alot of Cobra pilots, and other aviation pilots, but they are not low profile people.

Or do you call aviator glasses and that watch low profile?:undecided:

well if you dont know who joins pak army aviation then better stay quiet.

ok cadets after graduation from pma are never given an option to join army aviation.they join other arms like infantry, armoured, artilery etc.now those officers who fail to excel in their fields and units or who find their fields abit tough try to find an escape route.these officers join aviation mostly.exceptions are always there but this is the general gameplan.same is the case with ssg but ssg also gets some highly motivated officers unlike aviation.pak army aviation is for those who generally dont like to face challenges.so till the time aviation gets volunteers directly from pma its standard will never improve.i hvae heard some of the officers in army calling army aviators as "losers".

So, that is your argument?

Are you sure. because my father was sent from PMA to PAF Risalpur for training on aviation, although he was EME, but he completed his flight hours, and he was not rejected and then sent off. he was asked to go there on basis of his academic record in PMA.

The people who have excelled in their PMA courses are given choices, and are sent to various fields which suit them best.

So, your whole argument is pretty baseless.

Some very bright minds are in PAA, and how do PAA officers hate challenges?

Flying a helicopter at 2 o clock at night to complete your hours is a challenge, sitting in a cobra killing people is a challenge, sitting in a Ecueril and a Lama rescuing people from the highest mountains in the world while your rotor is 8 feet away from the cliff face, and there is no door beside you, just the cold wind is a challenge, and then also getting the other guy to sling underneath. Dropping 30 soldiers in a hot-zone is a challenge.
What a BS comment you made there.

Did you mean Mi-28? Thats a potent helicopter.

or maybe Kamov-50.

Sorry, can't agree. I have heard otherwise. It's just that PA aviatin wing is comparatively smaller. In the modern day war after Airforce, army avaition plays a very important role in both offensive and defensive roles. We should allocate a bigge rportion to expand strengthen the aviation wing with atleat 100 new attack platfroms.

aviation is never given as an option in army.officers opt for it from other arms and i have told you what type of officers generally opt for it.exceptions are always there.
army needs to change the system of induction in aviation.there is always a huge difference b/w the output of a person who is doing a job with motivation and the one who is doing a job for the sake of a job.

army aviation is imp but i have seen in operations a single 14.5 of talibans kept cobras well away from it.in modern day warfare u need to have missiles and jets to achieve major strategic objectives.i dont think pak should go for more cobras or attack helis.they are good enough for lic but against a well armed army helis will be sitting ducks

Army Aviation, cobra pilots, are taken from Infantry and other arms, the choice is for EME aviation.

But they are in no way third class or afraid of challenges.

They are doing it with motivation, people who are aviation enthusiasts from a young age. otherwise, nobody goes into the airforce either, unless he is an enthusiast.

Sure, the induction process can be changed, so that instead of putting in Infantry officers to cobras, you can have them trained for aviation from the start, but they are not third class or less motivated.

u are taking it personally as u said ur father is in aviation.i told u exceptions are always there.i just told u the general rule of induction in army.many of my frinds are in aviation and most of them were those who were pissed of at their unit environment, spending years in ops area etc.

I am sorry but your explanation is pathetic and laughable
as expected your post is just a matter of your opinion but you presented it as a matter of fact.
