China launches new Hefei-Bengbu high-speed railway

I don't believe high speed trains are I suitable for Indis. It's too dangerous for people to sit on the top of trains

No thats not a problem at all, since Air India and Jet airways( elevation of 14000) are carrying more people on the roof than inside,HSR will be a cakewalk, US recently supplied India with more than 500 million high powered magnetic shoes( with ToT), actually Russia was over pricing it and order was getting delayed, do some research before posting.

I heard about a prototype ready to carry out 500km/h over tests, is there someone heard about that and have any news?

Hefei-Bengbu line currently serves as a branch line of the Beijing-Shanghai HSR, and therefore may not be as popular as the rest of the Beijing-Shanghai HSR. However, it is strategically import as it will connect with the future Hefei-Fuzhou HSR, and thus serve as an important part connecting Beijing and Fuzhou as well.

Anyway, it is good to see this 130km line open, although I am much more eager to see the 921km Harbin-Dalian HSR open and the 2200 km Beijing-Shenzhen HSR being completed by the end of this year (I won't expect the 26km extension line from Shenzhen to Hong Kong to be completed anytime sooner than 2015 though).

The 500kph+ prototype was no longer financially supported by the MoR after the ex-minister was sacked. It was built by the manufacturer with the financial support from Ministry of Science and Technology last year (the model showed up in last month's InnoTrans 2012 in Berlin), but has not got a chance to test run for 500km/h-600km/h, as I suppose the Chinese MoR under current administration does not favor any significant technology progress at all.

As long as India wants to invest into its infrastructure, China definitely can help. However, it really need a lot of money pouring in.

Wow! Another feather in the Chinese cap! Amazing stuff! Congrats.

Let's face it. Indian railways are a 100 years behind China. We need to pull up our goddamn socks! :taz:

Damm beautiful train. Would love to be in china to see those marvellous high-speed trains where india seriously lack the capability

HSRs and their stations are THE key to China‘s rapid urbanization within the next decade。

I once read that HSR running at 500-600km/hour is possible but the main problem is the massive aberration of overhead electrical wire caused due to this high speed.

There is absolutely no need for a 500km/hour train at the moment. Even 200km/h is pretty fast for a train. Anything above that speed should be reserved for regional jet market.

How much time does it take to travel from Shanghai to Beijing using HSR.
