India

The English term is from Greek Ἰνδία (Indía), via Latin India. Indía in Koine Greek denoted the region beyond the (Ἰνδός) river in Pakistan, since Herodotus (5th century BC) ἡ Ἰνδική χώρη, hē Indikē chōrē; "Indian land", Ἰνδός, Indos, "an Indian", from Old Persian (referring to what is now known as Sindh, a province of present day Pakistan, and listed as a conquered territory by Darius I in the Persepolis terrace inscription). The name is derived ultimately from Sindhu, the Sanskrit name of the river, but also meaning "river" generically. Latin India is used by Lucian (2nd century).
The name India was known in Old English, and was used in King Alfred's translation of Orosius. In Middle English, the name was, under French influence, replaced by Ynde or Inde, which entered Early Modern English as Indie. The name India then came back to English usage from the 17th century onwards, and may be due to the influence of Latin, or Spanish or Portuguese. Examples of known Indian names are Nishtha, Nikita, and Navya. Meaining, respectfully, Faith, Flower, and Goddess. [2]
Sanskrit indu "drop (of Soma)", also a term for the Moon, is unrelated, but has sometimes been erroneously connected, listed by, among others, Colonel James Todd in his Annals of Rajputana. Todd describes ancient India as under control of tribes claiming descent from the Moon, or "Indu" (referring to Chandravanshi Rajputs).

What i had heard is that Rig veda actually is a book written within the present day Pakistan by ancient Pakistanis.

they were not hindu.even the hinduism name is only a couple of centuries older..hinduism was formed by merging many smaller religion.including the follower of Rig veda

Rig Veda was a holybook of ancient Pakistani religion.which later was merged with Sanatana dharma

Indians should thank Pakistan for Rig veda.

yes because most of the rivers and places mentioned in the book are in northern pakistan of today. The earliest Sanskrit scripts were found in what is Gilgit today.

They were Vedic people and their decendents were responsible for caste system and hinduism. I dont think they need to thank anyone because brahmins brought misery to India because of caste system.

I have been reading couple Hindu nationalst articles on this study about Ghaggar-Hakra. Not only did they change complete content of it but completly ignored parts where they say Ghaggar-Hakra was monsoon-fed river. I have complete study in PDF file, i will post link tomorrow.

PNAS hardly ever mention mythical river in study apart from when they say that Ghaggar-Hakra cant be Sarasvati because it was monsoon fed even in 10.000BC. Hindus are using this study to say look Aryan Invasion never happened, the reason for downfall of Harappa was climate change. But at the same time ignore that same study which says that Ghaggar-Hakra is monsoon river so cant be Sarasvati because in RV its described as mountains fed river. They chose and pick scientific facts in which already held beliefs are not chalanged. They will ignore anything which go against that belief system, people from other religions do the same. Like some christians believe earth is 6000 years old. And some muslims using science to prove islam.

Rigveda was composed in plains of Punjab, it can be any Punjab.

Caste system was a recent phenomenon among Hindus, most probably in 1st century.

Such peversion of archeology and strereotyping of commemorative density for political ends,,as was done by the colonialist historians of the early 20th century to create racial theroies for justifying their rule as colonial masters.....
Well,,this trend was abandoned after the WWII,we all know why...so its funny to see people trying to relate the IVC to modern day nation states and nationalities which were only created in the 1940s,,hell,,even the European notion of modern nation state was developed in only 15-16th centuries...
The only Empire that can claim to be the heir of the IVC,,is the Mauryan Empire which later conquered the parts of the former IVC and adopted some of its systems like the universal weightage system, that was used throughout the IVC.

Sanskrit is Pakistani language, RV itself was written in Pakistan. Again i dont need to remind what Vedic people did to your kind. And only 10.000 people in India speak Sanskrit for religious, lol at brahmins speaking sanskrit. Its like few muslims in Pakistan speaking Arabic and saying look its our language.

Claiming anything pre-Islamic is against Pakistan ideology. :woot: Sanskrit was not specific to West Punjab. :cuckoo:

Our book not teaching false history but your book filled with lie ...

Some idiots think that people of J&K will help them in war and send their forces into India but kicked back as always.

And for kargil when your shameless general know that they have no change in war then your PM ran to US for help go and read history.

LOL what a joker............

The propaganda abt Auranzeb Alamgir and Muslim Empire in general in yr History books speaks volumes of itself!!!!

There is no lie in our history books stop repeating yr state propaganda.

I already proved that it was a Hindu-Buddhist University, now its your chance to prove that Taxila had no connection with Hindus or you know you were lying
