The case against Hafiz Saeed

LeT did not do it.

They are doing some good projects in pakistan, mainly charity.

They even opened their doors to the world media upon invitation after the Mumbai inside job - what Terror group would do that?

And why majority of the world would stay against it?
(Please dont give answers like world hate us because we are nuclear power)

oh Really... then Why don't GoP decorate LeT with Nishan-e-pakistan.. I think it is long due to them for their service.

This is one of those events that are nose deep in disinformation and misinformation. Do not trust the Indian version of what happened in Mumbai, don't even believe what the official Pakistani side has to say. Just remember that it was a short lived successful operation for India.

Oh the things governments can do to their own people. A pish posh group like LeT infiltrating India via boat and assaulting one of the best defended Indian cities...LOL GTFO

So you mean to say this is creditable that Pakistan is not involved because "I said so"
RAW is involved in Pakistan because "I said so"
Indian media is bad because "I said so"
Indians are bad because "I said so"
CIA is involved because "I said so"
Mossad is involved because "I said so"

By the way on what authority you are giving these statements. The voice of Pakistan is GOP. If you have problem kick them first. If they are competent why to blame India.

LeT did do it - you are confusing JuD with LeT.

Also, the LeT is banned in Pakistan as a terrorist organization.

Rehman Malik apparently raised the issue with the head of the CIA:

He said he made it clear to Head CIA that no action would be taken against Chief Jamaat-u-Dawa Hafiz Saeed without concrete evidence for his involvement in last year Mumbai attack. We cannot arrest Hafiz Saeed without evidence against him, he said, adding that, India should share information if it has.
ONLINE - International News Network

"When the leads culminate in some evidence that he is a criminal, I will not waste a moment. He will be arrested. But it will take time," Malik told NDTV news channel in an interview.

"We have to follow our law. As we are respecting the investigation and the courts of India, I request you to request our courts. Wait for some time. The court process has started. We mean business. Whatever we have committed on all forums, we mean business," Malik added.

Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had confirmed Tuesday that Saeed had been arrested the previous day after two first information reports (FIRs) were registered against him under the anti-terrorism act.

On Thursday, Saeed's lawyer had denied the arrest, saying an appeal had been filed against the FIRs in the Lahore High Court.

Reiterating that India had not presented adequate evidence against Saeed, Rehman maintained that his prosecution should not be made a precondition for resuming the India-Pakistan dialogue process.

"As far as Hafiz Saeed is concerned, please do not make this a precondition. Because you know yourself that what you have given us is not evidence," Malik contended.

When it was pointed out that India had submitted evidence of Saeed's role in the Mumbai mayhem, Rehman replied: "Look, there is a difference between leads and evidence. If we can arrest (Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Zakiur Rehman) Lakhvi, why would we not arrest Saeed?

"The only request that I am making to India is give us credible evidence. I am not rejecting those leads.
Only three weeks have passed. Give me some time to investigate. You have seen two FIRs in Faisalabad. It is not window dressing. Believe me," the interior minister added.

When it was pointed out that the FIRs were not in connection with the Mumbai attacks, Malik said: "He was instigating people. So the FIR was registered."

Hafiz Saeed's arrest will take time: Pakistan

It has been conducting its own investigation into the violence and a special court has also been holding pre-trial hearing behind closed doors of seven suspects in a high-security prison in the city of Rawalpindi.

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik told reporters in Islamabad that his country has concluded its own investigation into the Mumbai events using what he described as"sketchy" information provided by India. He says the evidence and other relevant material investigators have collected so far have been placed before the court, which will indict the seven suspects next week.

But Minister Malik says Pakistan needs more information from India because the existing material is not enough for prosecutors to convince the court that the detainees were actually involved in the Mumbai incident. "The most important information which we need is the forensic experts' statements, which need to be given to us (by India). We want the maximum information from India so that we can make our case solid, tangible and of course prosecution should be carried out in such a way that the culprits do not get the benefit of doubt," he said.

The Pakistani minister for the first time acknowledged that an Islamic militant leader, Hafiz Saeed, is also under investigation in connection with the attacks on the Indian financial capital. India alleges the hard-line Pakistani cleric and his outlawed Jamaat-ud-Dawa group planned the Mumbai carnage. Mr. Malik, however, says the cleric will be arrested only after solid evidence is found against him. "I would like to inform you that Hafiz Saeed is being investigated. He has been included in the investigation. We will give fair trial and I assure my Indian counterpart that if there is evidence against Hafiz Saeed during our investigation I assure you he will not get out of the clutches of law," he said.

Not enough evidence yet to implicate Saeed: Pakistan

If he is bailed out by Pakistan court, it should be accepted by India: Rehman Malik

ISLAMABAD: Hafiz Saeed is under investigation for his alleged role in the Mumbai attacks, Pakistan said on Saturday, but also underlined that there was not yet enough evidence to implicate him in the case or arrest him, and that it would not be rushed into acting against him on Indian “dictation.”

The Pakistan government also briefed Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal on its investigations into the Mumbai attacks. The Foreign Office later handed over a dossier containing an update on the investigations, along with a demand for additional information from New Delhi on certain aspects of the case.

The effort seemed aimed at positioning and preparing the ground for the Foreign Secretaries and Foreign Ministers’ meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York later this month.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik told a press conference here that Pakistan was pursuing the leads provided by India on Hafiz Saeed. “I have not rejected the leads. I would like to announce that Hafiz Saeed is being investigated. He is included in the investigations. He is under investigation,” Mr. Malik said, promising “if there is evidence against [him] during our investigations, I assure you, he will not get out of the clutches of law.”

He appeared to distance Pakistan’s federal government from the two cases filed against Mr. Saeed under the Anti-Terrorism Act in Faisalabad earlier this week. These cases had been registered by the Punjab government, which was also carrying out the investigations, Mr. Malik said, adding that he had asked the provincial government for a report on the cases.

Mr. Malik, who briefed the Indian envoy earlier, said the information provided by New Delhi about Mr. Saeed’s alleged involvement in the Mumbai attacks was mainly by way of statements from the accused on trial in India — Ajmal ‘Kasab,’ Fahim Ansari and Sabahuddin.

A court would not accept these statements, Mr. Malik said, stressing the point that the Pakistani judiciary was free, and India must respect the decisions made by the courts in this country. “If Hafiz Saeed has been bailed out by my court, it should be accepted by India,” Mr. Malik said. “We are a sovereign state. We can be given information, but we cannot take dictation.”

The Minister said Pakistan had already done a lot towards bringing seven arrested suspects in the case to trial. In- camera proceedings against the seven were held in an anti-terorrism court in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail on Saturday. Mr. Malik disclosed that the judge announced he would frame charges against the suspects at the next hearing scheduled for September 26.

NEW YORK: Pakistan does not want to take to court a "half-baked" case against JuD chief Hafiz Mohd Saeed, blamed by India for masterminding Mumbai
attacks, and needs "legally tenable" evidence against him, foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said today hours ahead of crucial talks with his Indian counterpart S M Krishna.

"We will certainly not hesitate for taking action (against Saeed), but we got to have a case which is legally tenable because if we take a case into court which is a half-baked case and if the court sets him free, you'll say 'collusion', 'drama'. No we are not in a mood to collude with terrorists," Qureshi told a news channel.

He was responding to a question about Pakistan not taking action against Saeed, also founder of the LeT, despite being provided with evidence by India against him.

When pointed out that Saeed has not been arrested though two FIRs were filed against him for inciting people to wage 'jehad' and seeking donations for the same, Qureshi said: "That's for us to decide and that's for the legal process in Pakistan to decide.

"There are procedures that you have to follow. We have a very independent judiciary. Thank God for that. You know how cumbersome legal procedures are but we will not be soft on anyone who wants to move out of line of government policy."

The same goes for you, you Indians need to change your hostile behaviour towards Pakistanis as if we are responsible for all the ills that happens in India.

India needs to act more responsibly and stop making false dramas against Pakistanis. Pakistanis are already making huge sacrifices against terrorists aided and abetted by India.

Some information on his past, although it is pertinent to note that he was born in 1950 so he probably heard most of these stories
His ‘cause’ for revenge is linked to his past — thirty of his family were murdered during Partition when his father, an ordinary landlord, moved from Simla to Pakistani Punjab’s Mianwali district.
