What's new

India Developing, but still a long way to go

Hey kurup, are you from Vadodara? Thank you so much for posting pics of my (perhaps our) home town :D. The old ST bus station sucked big time, this one is totally sexy.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.'s market cap is ~ Rs. 50, 000 Cr.'s ($ 10 Billion) :woot:, who would have thought!

Tata Motors Rs. 150, 000 Cr.'s ( $ 20 Billion), Mahindra & Mahindra Rs. 55, 000 Cr.'s ( > $ 11 Billion), Eicher Rs. 12, 000 Cr.'s ( $ 2.5 Billion), Ashok Leyland cap Rs 3, 560 Cr.'s (> $ 1 Billion), Another Co. I forget Oh Maybe Escorts Tractors Rs. 4150 Cr.'s ( < $ 1 Billion).

Hero MotoCorp. Rs. 40, 000 Cr.'s ( $ 7.5 Billion), Bajaj Rs. 3, 780 Cr.'s ( $ 7.5 Billion), TVS Rs. Cr.'s ( $ 7.5 Billion), smaller players like Sonalika, AMW, Tatra, HM and the giant MNC's like Hyundai, JCB, GM, Ford etc. all put together is easily $ 100 Billion plus. This just the OEM's.

There's govt. types like BEML, Scooter's India Ltd., Defence Vehicles from Ordinance Factory Board etc. Then the new electric 2 wheeler makers. Throw in another $ 100 Billion for non OEM's, parts makers. Exports, sales, servicing, machining, re-cylcing, denting & painting.

Indian auto biz is big. In PPP terms I'd put it closer to $ Trillion considering steel is local to India.

How can 150K crores be 20 Billion when 50K crores are 10 Billion :cheesy::crazy::rofl:. Well anyway, that is fantastic. Our companies are worth more than many nations!

New: Tata Tower

tata-tower-537x400.jpg

It is projected that by the year 2030, 25% of the city of Mumbai will be covered by parked cars. That means less area for parks, housing and basic room to breathe. The revolutionary Tata Tower was designed to address this pressing issue by creating a residential community for the employees of Tata (the largest automaker in India and manufacturer of the Nano, the world's cheapest car) that would also serve as a vertical parking tower for electric vehicles. Aside from encouraging alternative energy vehicles, the vertical parking system would allow for maximum parking density, freeing up ground area for use as green space. The building would also have a number of alternative energy systems like photovoltaic louvers, building-integrated wind turbines, tri-generation, and an algae farm which would be used to power itself as well as the cars.

Komodo – The Upcoming Electric Car made in India

electric-cars-india-komodo-speedways-665x360.jpg

Inspired by the Komodo Dragon, the Komodo is a revolutionary design in electric cars available in India. Being manufactured in house at Speedways Electric (based in Punjab), this beautiful car is unlike any other available in the market. Not just more eye catching than regular fuel cars, the Komodo is an electric car that drives and looks like a mean machine.

The power comes purely from the batteries, also built at Speedways Electric. The design of the batteries is introduced for the first time in India as EV-grade batteries. These batteries are designed specifically for electric cars and electric vehicles and are not available in the market by any other battery manufacturing brand. To power Komodo, Speedways Electric had to design special powered batteries that can last long and make this machine run long without tiring.

The Electric Car that was the Highlight at Auto Expo ’12
Built as a prototype and showcased at Auto Expo ’12 – Asia’s biggest Automotive show – at Pragati Maidan Delhi, Komodo was featured in many newspapers and news channels for its innovative design and looks. Hundreds of people walked into the Speedways Electric booth to take pictures in and around this beautiful electric car and it truly showcased the potential of the company as pioneers in the field of development of electric vehicles in India.

Hand-built and Custom Designed Electric Car
Like all luxury cars across the globe, the Komodo too is hand-built, designed to perfect precision and customer’s specifications. At Speedways Electric, they believe in tailormaking solutions to every person’s requirements but at a much more cost effective model than usual luxury brands. Price is an important factor and they built an electric car keeping that in mind.

Price of the Komodo Electric Car
While the production is underway, the company cannot give a definite price but estimates the final product to be released at around rupees 8 lacs. This price of an electric car that looks as good is definitely going to give every sedan out there a run for its money as not just the initial cost is budget friendly but the running costs are barely a percentage of fuel costs are.

Speedways Electric also offers other variants in the electric cars segment so stay tuned for more upcoming electric cars that are going to take over the roads in India!

OMG, that's an awesome ... out of this world upload.

I've been to Hyderabad.

Travelled on above Nehru ORR. I was just watching a youtube vid. on Kashmir
  • Indians should consider themselves lucky Hyderabad is India.
Entirely different vibe Hyderabad, boom-boom Bombay style.

qyud.jpg

And just like Mumbai and it's Russian found Bombay High off-shore oil & gas, Andhra or former Hyderabad State is now ramping up to an oil and gas petrodollar super-state, Telengana or not. AP was never a BIMARU type state to begin with. Impressive!

AP is also literate and educated. Capital Hyderabad's IT sector has turned the city into a magnet for multi skilled, multi-cultural, Indian multi-national professionals from across India who have amplified Hyderabad's melting pot ethos.

Mass literacy, IT & oil & gas and traditional agro-seafood-industrial-mining sectors, it would be hard to reverse it's growth trajectory; always a good thing to worry about re: 1 step forward, 2 steps back kind of growth S. Asia side. The new ITIR ... as I said ... lucky.

In response to below comments by forumers, my English may not be standard issue Indian Hinglish, so sorry. And I'm post my thoughts for me, not anyone else. If simple English comprehension is the problem for some forumers, pls. do yourself a favour, take some Englsih courses and upgrade.

It will serve you well in life, the best return on investment! Or go to your mother language site.

Re: off-shore Krishna-Gadavari oil & gas pay dirt's, that's only the tip of the iceberg. ONGC, GSPC and Relaince :hehe: are upto their neck in production. Steel, ships, pipe, labour, foreign specialist's are all on site at the K-G basins. With the return of America as a fracking, shale gas power in a couple of yrs., the oil-gas business will get localised. The business in AP will expand onshore and off-shore. AP is right next to K-G basins. AP will get lot's of action with assured gas supplies, and long term royalties to the state which can be traded cashed in advance for present development. Oil & gas is like a blank cheque, called 'petro-dollars'. Comprende?

Re: Naxalism and Telengana, these are serious issues but Hyderabad will continue to shine.

Ok, Telengana is almost done - good or bad, 1 side or other; it's almost done. Next - Naxalism!
