Mistral row: France risks losing Rafale contract in India

Since its already proven that pressure can stop the sale, the choice is between 100% ToT OR no ToT but Cheap A/C. What is the confusion ?

Pressure is Limited to the collective countries... Again Dude France is not going to lose 30B and Indian Relation which is much Important

The "relationship" will become HOSTAGE to France if they cannot be held to their word.

France was in NO position to screw us earlier. They would be in the future. Do you want to hand over your future to someone you know is unreliable ?

If France ever planned to screw us then this is the time for them not in Future my friend... Screwing India is not going to be Interests of both US and France as of Now or in Future

LOL....is that how we operate in real life ? ...... you will remain faithful to you wife only when she is young and good looking ? ...else you can break your promise with her ?

What about bank loans ? you will repay loans from certain banks and not from others ?

Ukraine did not have any defence pact with France. Russia action on Ukraine was a bilateral one. France had no business getting involved.

You are either a RELIABLE supplier or you ARE NOT. There is NO middle ground here. No Grey area.

Either you are a man of your word in ALL circumstances, or you are not. A man who changes his word when circumstances change is not a man of his word, he is an opportunist.

A Friend who changes his friendship when you are having a hard time is called a "fair weathered friend", not a reliable friend.

If you understand Game Theory try to view it using the game theory variables. Then the decision becomes as clear as daylight.

You may be willing to take a "chance" with the French, but Logic and Rational though dictates that if a nation does not honour their word when the circumstances change, it will never honour their word when the circumstances changes again.

In international politics circumstances changes ALL the time.

The bolded sentence perfectly describes all the Nations of this World. Good character can be a personal trait, never a National trait. France simply happens to be a lesser opportunist when compared with the US.

What kind of logic is that ?

Screw us now and forget 20 B $ or get 20 B$ and then screw us ?

I am glad you have this incredible ability to see into the intentions of France, now and in the future. Sadly I cannot and I think the Indian govt. cannot either.

I don't care what is low end or high end. The IAF needs to make a plan with what is AVAILABLE. Not be cry babies.

If there is no Plan B then IAF has failed in its duties. Its as simple as that.

Non of the MMRCA tech. would be or can be used to shape AMCA. It will be screwdriver tech in any case.

You pour money you build capabilities, same as any other nation in the world :coffee: It has nothing to do with DRDO or TATA. Only two things are required to build any sort of capabilities, Money and Time.

Show proof of 100% ToT first :coffee:

Are you aware that a currency is a Promissory Note ? A promise by that nation's govt. that it will honour that amount with gold or kind, irrespective of who holds it or what the circumstances are.

All Nations keep their promise. Call it 'good character' or whatever.

The world economy operates on such "promises" that cannot, will not be broken. US is an exception to that rule because they have the might to implement their will either way.

France has till date never broken their promise. This will be a first. and that changes everything.

That's because breaking that promise to their oveseas bearers invites international sanctions. If there were no punitive clauses associated with breaking them, many Nations would be taking advantage of it already.

As for the bolded part, that's precisely my point! France still has better stats to show for the promises that they make when compared to the US. Why choose the greater risk then?

Dude you're taking it too far that's all i can say.... Screwing India is not in their interests... Simply US or France can't afford is... so why don't you Just relax

Tell that to the people who made the NPT and kept Indian under various sanctions for the last 50 of the 68 years. :coffee:

It has nothing to do with overseas or inhouse. Trust is a sacred thing.

You break it, no one will trust you again. Be it an individual or a Nation.

France HAD better stats, does not have better stats TODAY. That is the point.

E.g. of US was to make a point.

What>> Are you expecting a life time friend???? Then isn't Sri lanka going towards China and Pak Justified?? we shouldn't put our nase in Napal too after all we did put sanction on Nepal....

we can only work for the interests of our country in a given opportunity, now is the time, don't tell the country to screw that. We don't trusts US but why are we buying??? because the time is right... GoI is not stupid.

I do not prescribe of childish notions of "friendship". I will leave such things to you.

We buy non critical equipments and a/c from the US because we wanted to diversify our supplier base, because Russia became unreliable. We brought the goods as payment for NPT exemption and because our Def. forces wanted their hands on some Amriki goodies. Nothing more, nothing less.

GoI is not stupid that is why US is kept at a distance.

Which brings us to the question of If not the US or France, then who else? AFAIK, China alone has a good record in this regard. They even arm those who're under UN sanctions. Maybe we too should buy those J-10s. :sarcastic:

There's no friendship in international politics only Interests that's why i never used that word till now.

Earlier buying Weapons was mostly political decisions since we weren't having good relation witht he west... but now that scenario is gone.. we've the options to pick from where we want. Russian Planes are cheap but costs hell to operate... European weapons are superior to the russians and we're haveing and continue to develop good relations with them, then why not use the opportunity??
