Rohingyas’ plight: Imran Khan writes letter to Ban Ki-moon

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has urged United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to end the persecution and genocide of Rohingyas within Myanmar.

In an open letter written to the UN secretary general on Wednesday, Imran Khan said the silence and complete inaction by the UN on the continuing plight and persecution of the Rohingyas is a shameful testament to the failure of the UN to fulfill its basic principles of upholding human rights.

Giving a reference of Rwandan genocide, Khan said the UN has once again failed to protect a people from persecution and genocide: this time the Rohingyas of Myanmar.

Imran Khan also called on the UN secretary general to move the UNSC to end the persecution and genocide of Rohingyas within Myanmar and to bring to an end their inhumane plight on the high seas, under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.

On his twitter account, Imran Khan hinted dismay that except a few, no one in the Muslim World is taking up the issue including Pakistan.

Fake photos..!!! LOL

Great respect to Imran Khan, I don't agree with everything he says. But, he seems to be a great potential leader for Pakistan.

Starting today Mahathir is holding a two days seminar on the Rohingya issue in KL. From the seminar hall Mahathir has declared the killings of Rohingyas as Genocide as stipulated in the UN Declaration, 1948.

Oh wow, the "ummah" stands by them? Then they will do very well, I'm sure.

(Sarcasm aside, it is terrible what they are going through. No ummah-chummah is coming to their aid - they better fend for themselves.)

If i had a nickle for every time the UN has failed i'd be a millionaire. They'll probably issue a fancy letter of condemnation and that will be that.:closed:

rather ummah failed rohingya. In neighbouring bangladesh, rohingyas are unwelcome(yeah they conviniently blame their 'hindu' govt but we know what they really think).
Pakistan govt prefers to just wait and watch rather than use their relation with china to intervene. And KSA is not even interested, they got big problem of their own.
I dont even know the position of malayasia and indonesia. Where are the worldwide muslim outrage(inspite of fake photos). More buses were burnt in reaction to cartoon or israeli war.

The rohingyas are mostly ethnic BDians. So it's the moral responsibility of BD to take care of their own people in this time of crisis. But do the BDians care about their Bong Muslim brothers ? If their own people don't care about them why expect others to care.

The Bangladeshi government secular, and has no interest in religion-based geopolitics.

Do not expect any one to help Rohingyas ??

Did he write to the Army Chief asking not to sell JF-17s to Burma ?
