Iran Successfully Tests Simorgh SLV

If Iran can launch an SLV then they definitely have ICBM capability. But cannot test it for obvious reasons. Don't want the americans and Israelis to cry too much now do we......lol....

Well we can use this as an excuse why we place ABMs in Poland. Many posters here questioned why the U.S. would put ABMs in Poland. Our explanation was future threat by Iranian ballistic missiles. Russians keep saying it was against their missiles. Why Poland and not somewhere else. I pointed out the direction the Iranians would fired towards to hit the U.S. Iran is proving us right on this case for ABM system.

I think Iranian missles are there to defend Iran's soverignty. Don't think they want to be victims of mass genocide like the Iraqis and Afghans were.

Come on, we all know that Iran was just an excuse for a deployment against Russia. Besides, if Iran had ICBMs, it would still be possible to hit major US cities without going in the range of Polish SM-3 sites.

If its against the Russians, the ABMs would be placed somewhere else. Not the west side of Russia thats for sure.

In what direction will you be firing at to hit the U.S. from Iran?

In suborbital tests they mount self destruction system to avoid any damages in re entry !

This is probably the case ...

In operational fase we can judge how successful this rocket is ...
That's a crock of BS that only you could come up with... Now you call it self inflicted while earlier you were singing tune.

According to the NYT article, this Simorgh was a photocopy of the DPRK Unha rocket that fat Kim has been firing recently. Does not sound right.

Someone should compare this Simorgh to the DPRK Unha.
Unha is 3 stage Simorgh is 2 stage
while Unha is larger its first stage is smaller from Simorgh
the ratio of oxidizer to fuel tank size in Simorgh and Unha first stage is also different
I don't know what similarity the guy at NYT saw between those two , he probably was too high when he made the comparison or had forgot his glasses
this is a better comparison between Unha and Simorgh

Then how you repel Russians missiles?

honestly do you believe that those missile defense in Poland can stop Iran missile in their path toward USA or even have the range to do that

Iran has the capability to build ICBM's in about a year & in about the same time it would take to build a Nuke if they choose to do so BUT Iran is just NOT likely to go down that path! At least not at this time! Iran started testing it's Sejil-2 a decade ago and since then they have mostly focused on increasing accuracy! If Iran wanted, by now they could have easily built a solid fueled ICBM equivalent to the U.S. Minuteman-3 (In range only).
I would say Iran's space program has already proven that Iran is fully capable of building a post boost vehicle for an ICBM and as for the boosters it's just a matter of wanting to build something that large!
I would say outside 2000km the only target Iran would really like to have the capability to hit is Diego Garcia located 4000km from southern Iran & that site is too well protected & it would cost too much money to focus on that site using conventional Ballistic missiles and at the present Iran lacks the sensors required to hit something that far with any type of accuracy!
