Kayani says the aim is to attack the terrorists
General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani clarified on Monday that the objective of the operation in South Waziristan is not to target peace and country loving people of Mehsud tribes, instead the aim is to eliminate Uzbek, local and foreign terrorists.
In a message addressed to Mehsud tribes, the COAS said he admits that the tribes in question including the Mehsud tribes are loyal to Pakistan. “The tribes have always served as Pakistani troops without remuneration,” he added.
He said the objective of the military operation in South Waziristan is to pull the Mehsud tribes from the clutches of terrorists elements and provide an opportunity to the Mehsud tribes to live in their area in peace.
A surge of terrorist attacks in the country has led Pakistan to begin military operations in the South Waziristan, a place increasingly identified as a launchpad for the terrorists attacks throughout the country.
However, concerns remain whether Pakistan Army is ready for another major operation code named Rah-e-Nijat after a successful operation in the Swat valley (Rah-e-Rast) only a few months ago.

We quote in our day to day conversation Allama Mohammed Iqbal who propounded the idea of Pakistan. We very commonly say that he provided ideological foundation of Pakistan. I don’t think that any militant movement that has spread over almost a full decade and has established not only as a militant force but also as an ideology, can be uprooted only through a military campaign. While army action may be a necessity, other options should never be ruled out. US, NATO, allied forces and Afghan administration have realized this and we too need to give this approach a serious consideration.

The cause is no doubt good one but Pak army should apply the method of german wehrmacht….The method was BLITKRIEG..means attack with overwelhming and super force including artillery,tanks,motorized infantary division and Air force..Why the army is not striking the backbone of terrorists?????..I am not against the cause but army should complete the operation in a month.Because the ability of pakistan army’s agression is far far more then the current situation….The terrorists must not be given any kind of concesion…God bless Army….Long live Pakistan

The decision to join United States in the war against terrorism was strategic for the betterment of both nations and its safety. To state, “ How long Pak Army will fight for US? ….equals to a baseless allegation. We have been persistently focusing on rebuilding our relationship and trust. Therefore, in order to continue in this path, it is crucial to distinguish between demands and strategic proposition offered by the United States. Strategic propositions such as this one are not demands but rather insight offered to the Pakistani Army so we can better cope and end atrocities in that region. What steps will be taken or not taken in the North Waziristan region is up to the Pakistani government and its people.

hmm, Gen. Kayani is a man of spirits. The way he is taking terrorism and his srategy about americans, indians and non-state elements is really appericaiteable. Only the hurdle in our way is our poor political leadership as they dont know even the idealogy of Paksitan wether they are OUR leaders.

We have been waiting for this time for long as the monolply of Waziristanis and other terrorist elements overthere was not bearable. They had made a state within state challenging every government writ. They were going to weaken our soverignity bocause of having there own descions that was burdon on our our foriegn policy regarding Afghanistan and in influenced our policies in country also. So plz make up your mind that its not Amarican’s fight. In this turmoil we have found a cover to crush the basterds non-state actors.
