BD-Burma Relations

India is the biggest importer of Bangladeshi products and if you can you should ban all trading with India.
BD is such a POOR country that it imports more than $3000 million worth of goods from the 1ST WORLD country, India by paying cash money. Whereas that 1st world country imports less than $400 million worth of goods.

Where did yiu get this information that a poor India is the biggest importer of BD goods?

The Burmese are very bad. They come with tanks, battle ships and army every six months. They have refused or just neglected all our positive proposals with only negative responses. Think of our proposals to build hydro-electric plant in Burma with our money, think of that 22 km road inside Burma that we wanted to construct with our money, and many such projects. End results are all a big zero. You cannot clap in one hand. We need Burmese cooperation to undertake mutually beneficial projects.

Now, suddenly, when India is proposing BD to invest in the NE, this Burmese Ambassador comes with his own proposal. I do not think, they are serious. They must fulfill their own obligation towards BD. They must let us build that power plant, the 22 km road and allow us to lease their land. Only then BD should respond positively. But, even then the industries must be built in arakan so that the Rohingya people can get maximum benefit out of it.

The Indians and Burmese will only take us seriously when we have a more powerful military.

Military has nothing to do with taking a country seriously. Maldives, Bhutan have no military to speak of, yet India rushes to help those countries with any problems they have. Infact India also gifted a newly commissioned Naval patrol vessel to Maldives, Islander Aircraft to Myanmar etc.

Point being to help countries that have good relations with India.
Have you not read the recent articles how India is more than willing to offer unilateral concessions and work out problems with Bangladesh.

Doesnt that imply that India is taking Bangladesh seriously and wishes to resolve disputes with BD?
As Eastwatch mentioned, you cant clap with one hand, Bangladesh has also taken steps to help India and therefore you see the warming of relations.

Bangladesh has started helping India in eliminating terrorists operating from their territory, specifically North Eastern terrorist groups. You cant expect India to start improving ties with BD when BNP is in power and they are trying to arm and support these terrorists-which some members on this forum support as well.

When BD is sensitive to Indian concerns, India is sensitive to BD concerns as well. Unfortunately for the longest time, Govt of BD was implicitly supporting these terrorist groups and the consequential nose dive in bilateral relations with India.

I still remember the question of Peter Jennings to your BJP defence minister "Why India needed to test nukes, Is it because world will take India seriously?".

Military is important to us not because India or world will take us seriously but because we have to ensure the security of our 150 million people.

You are certainly very correct. But, a powerful military will remain far away from our grasp until we take adequate time to build up our economy. Neither Mir Kassem Ali Khan nor the Delhi Badshah and the Nawab of Audh took adequate steps to modernize their military, but indulged in a war against the British and depended upon only the blunt force of number.

The result was the defeat of their combined forces in the battle of Buxar at the hands of British with a much smaller number. This was a real war and we lost. Winning a war is not just a wishful dream. A country must build it from the root. Only then the enemy or neighbouring countries show respect. Mir Kassem did not do it and started a war prematuredly.

History is certainly waiting there to repeat itself unless we are careful. So, I believe that a strong economy must precede a strong military. It also means that we better show patience, make a good face, build our economy, build up the taxation system and then build up the military. No body bullies us then. Now, we are like a snake without its poison.

Who the hell are you or India to help us. You are talking like a big Maharaja while sleeping in the streets. Do help yourself first and then talk about helping others. Did we ever say we want help from our big DADA and the DADA is not helping us in this thread or in the PDF? We want to piss on any Indian help, do you understand?

Why should you suddenly show this audacity to help us? Why do not you malauns go and help Pakistan? They will kick your back hundred times, they have the strength. So, do not come with indirectly abusing us in the name of helping us when your own politicians are asking our help to build your NE. We do not like self-important country like yours.

If you want to talk about help, then buy our goods. We buy $3000 million from you and you buy only $400 million. So, do us a favour. Prove yourself a rich country by purchasing our goods. But, when it is opposite, we feel that we are richer than you.

I had almost ignored this post, till i read the underlined sentence. Economist will faint , shall one , read your theorem.

Coming to your point, Fine, What goods, that you manufacture, that we do not produce locally, are we talking about here mister?

Waiting for your answer.

EastWatch: Hating India is one thing, wrongly accusing someone, is another.

Let us know which part of Malay's post invoked your "wrath".

There are two part's to that question..... One, Did we really needed to conduct those test's?..... NO-- was not needed at that point in time, but yet we did it, partly for political mileage of ruling party and partly for the "world power" tag.

Second is the WHY-Nuke part. That was pretty obvious.

You need to explain this to your fellow countrymen.

Do you understand what help is? It is not alms. It is your insecurity or inferiority complex that leads to believe i implied that.

Help can and generally is in a number of ways, ranging from global diplomatic support on key initiatives to common security pacts ESPECIALLY when the said countries are neighbours. Heck it is so wide ranging, that i dont understand why you would get so offended by my post.

India would definitely gain a lot from Bangladeshi help-starting from the international arena, economy right down to the border area.
So i dont know why you are trying to act all indignant as if i have insulted your honour or your ego by saying India can help BD and vice-versa. Dont spout bull$hit about "dada" or "maharaja", quantify everything. Go and take a hike if your country is so insecure about itself.

If you want to talk about help, then buy our goods. We buy $3000 million from you and you buy only $400 million. So, do us a favour. Prove yourself a rich country by purchasing our goods. But, when it is opposite, we feel that we are richer than you.

Excuse me, trade quotas are not the order of the day. India is offering UNILATERAL trade incentives by reducing the non tariff barriers for Bangladeshi products apart from reducing the negative list of imports from Bangladesh. That speaks a lot. If BD's products are competitive, they will automatically gain market share.

is everybody in BD on drugs?
why are you people so hyper all the time?
nobody imposes help...
malay presents facts and you talk as if you are the under-secretary to the pm of BD!
see nobody gives a flying f to your opinion...state facts or dont post.
as far as the numbers are concerned...there isnothing much that BD produces that we dont produce ourselves...
i remember Pakistan doing the same in the 90s by banning aotumobile part imports from india...only to lose on import duties by getting the same $h!t smuggled from India and/or paying a heavier price on the same Indian goods by buying the from the gulf...

there is something wrong with some of the schizophrenic BD members here...the Pakistanis are logical and sane...you guys are in a different league..!
where are leon and raquib?

We export our goods to rich countries like the USA and EC. They can afford to purchase our import because they are all rich countries. About India, it is just another 3rd world country, exports $3 billion worth of goods to another 3rd world country like BD. but, then it imports from us a very low q'ty of goods in exchange.

It manifests that Indian public are poor with little purchasing power, and its industries are churning out those low-end goods that BD also produces. So, why Indians should think that they are an well-off country that can help us? Why do we need Indian help to build our country?

Stupid and Nonsense...... if your really understand very concept of EXIM ....There are multiple reasons why people export. Price is just one of them. Educate yourselves on global trade first before posting.
And yes, atleast dont lie. Here is where BD and India stands as fare as exports goes:
List of countries by exports - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Is it so .. .maybe you can see your golden countries rank for PPP .. which, if you are not aware, is purchase power parity.
Have a look here. No use spreading false fabricated lie's.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)

So, why Indians should think that they are an well-off country that can help us? Why do we need Indian help to build our country?

Again, stop telling lie's. What you THINK is your problem. No indian member here has asserted that you need indian help. Nor is it our concern if you have have inferior complex being a bangladeshi.

Oh by the way . .still waiting for your answer.......

Let us know, which goods you manufacture and which we have deficit of, would you like India to Import from "USA of Asia" - aka Bangladesh.

You need to explain this to your fellow countrymen.

Statement " Military is important to us not because India or world will take us seriously but because we have to ensure the security of our 150 million people." very much explained itself, understood and agreed.
