Most Chinese provinces and cities had long obtained high income status, western regions like Tibet and Xinjiang slowed the whole country down a little bit, but still, bringing one fifth of the humanity, 1.4 billion people into high income status is an unprecedented feat in the human history, a great contribution to the world poverty reduction goal.

China jumped from a low income country to a high income country in just couples of years, so much for much hyped so called " middle income trap" China bashers raised against China.
