i might be wrong,sir, but i read in the atlas cheetah modifications, that the angle of attack and turn rate was improved at the expense of speed -- due to nose modifications??

That was because of increased thrust of the engine and addition of immovable canards and a digital FBW.. The nose was drooped because of the hift of CoG of the aircraft.

Not the nose itself.. The canards.
As they dont move, they induce too much drag at high speeds.

First model of cropped delta wing planform which later went on into tthe F 22 and F 35 designs.

F-16XL was the competing design against F-15E and got rejected. This configuration is called cranked wing aka double delta. The one major breakthrough that i know of in XL was that in order to reduce drag, LM introduced the nano pores in the body of aircraft to allow wind to pass smoothly and thus reducing drag. for more details This link would be useful
