Imran's initial refusal to go to IMF because Imran had put himself in some ideological situation by saying things like 'commit suicide rather going to IMF' cost Pakistan dearly--he ended up going to IMF but damage had been already done.

Then PDM govt too refused to go to IMF because they were not sure if they would even be allowed to stay in power and PDM govt was mired in political fights the likes of which has not been seen in Pakistan even during the Benazir-Nawaz rivalry of the 90s. PDM govt performed even worse than Imran. Not only were they, like Imran, incompetent but also they had no incentive to perform, given their very shaky situation.

In hindsight, it was better that Imran stayed in power. But even better would be that Imran sat on the Opposition benches and let PDM fall on its own sword.

It's all history now. And now an undeclared Martial Law is imposed the civilians have lost the ground they had gained in the last 15-20 years. But I believe the rapid decline in Pakistan since April 2022 is being reversed due to the Danda of the military.
