Lithography machine, Dutch minister says U.S. can’t dictate approach to China exports

Thing is, the technology that ASML uses in manufacturing of lithographic machine isn't theirs to begin with, it belongs to US also many of the critical components used in it are made by Germany.

Did ASML pay for the technologies with US origin? Are all USA tech sales string-attached to begin with? Never really understand the legal ground that US dictates how its customers use the equipment that has been paid for.

It's like Xiaomi tells you what you can't use your Xiaomi phone for.

The US restriction banning exports of these lithographic machines to China is an "unfunded mandate".

There is no money from the US to back up these restrictions.

The market demand exists in China and there is money to be paid.

The US being a capitalist country cannot succeed in restricting these exports by allies forever or even in the near term.

If not legally - things will proceed by less than legal means.

They also restricted nuclear technology from going to Pakistan - now look at where things are today.
