The best time was yesterday, the second best is today. The sooner it’s built it will allow Central Asia to trade internationally without more options, via a corridor that goes through Pakistan.

Supposedly it will take 5 years to build (hopefully by when we will have started to and completed the upgrading of ML-1 to benefit from the new Trans-Afghan Railway).

Any indication the Uzbeks and the Kazakhs are upgrading their freight railway network in anticipation of this afghan railway?

BTW, the Kyrgyz have a railway link to China and could function as the shortest link from the Pakistani railway network to the Chinese railway network in Southern Xinjiang, while Kazakhstan has a crossing at Khorgos in Northern Xinjiang.
