Pakistan Economic Policy debate/conference held today at IBA,

Presenters & expert panel:
Mr. Salim Raza, Dr. Mustaq Khan, Dr. Asad Sayeed, Mr. Shabbar Zaidi and Mr. Omer J. Ghani. Asad Umar, Dr Miftah Ismail, Dr. Ishrat Hussain and few more.

You can follow on Twitter for updates #PakEconomicPolicy

While all the experts discussed economic outlook, policies, and reforms PTI's Asad Umer once again created history. Firstly it wasn't forum to do blame game and even if you want to do that start with Federal Government, Sindh Government or Baluchistan government he criticized Metro Project and Punjab Government and praised Benazir Income support Program.

PML-N's Dr Miftah Ismail (PhD in Public Finance from the Wharton School) didn't criticized anyone not even PPPP he made good points regarding economy and didn't paid him much attention because people like Asad Umer always show their class and as we say in Punjabi "Jithy bethna uthy he hag dena" is Asad Umer way of life.

Benazir Income Program: Budget 60 Billion Rs per year
Revenue= 0

Metro Bus: Completed in 30 Billion Rs.
Revenue: 23rd March count 143,879 passengers (143,879x20=2,877.580 Rs in a single day.).
Metro earnings are more than expected and after payment to contractors, little but some revenue is there for the government.

Asad Umer proved he is immature and incompetent to lead Pakistan economy. People of Pakistan especially Punjab must be aware of this rat.

can you understand what is difference between these two projects? and do you have that sensor in your brain that can understand it? not that I agree with Asad Umar but on comparison basis BISP is far more effective than a lose of punjab's money on metro..

people should be taught how to catch the fish. that should be the policy of any government !!

^^
Yeah BISP is effective because PPP buying votes with 2000Rs/ individual and when it comes to Laptop scheme roughly 3 Billion Rs it becomes PML-N dubious scheme to purchase votes. 2000 Per month main kia hota ha? Bhikari banana ke rakhna ha awaam ko?

With such dual face policies and biased criticism people will give you chankana on 11 May.

The audience is entirely different. and like I said if only you had that part of the brain which could do the understanding for you.

as for 11 may day is concern, you will get thinga from awam on that day... Inshallah !!

Meray Chanda ,

What is the Revenue of Laptop Scheme ? ,
What is the revenue of Solar Lamp Scheme ?
, What is the Revenue of Sasti Roti Scheme ?
What is the Revenue of Yellow Cab Scheme ?
And Many More schemes . ?

What else Project Punjab Govt has done in 5 years ?

How Much have the Spent of Education ?
How Much have they Spent on Health ?
What is the Total budget of Southern Punjab ?

You want me to Continue on ?

If the laptop scheme was a sham, then the Income Support is the mother-load. Using billions of public money in Benazir's name every year to buy poor voters is despicable.

What would ISP supporters say if N.Sharif had started a Sharif Income Program ??

Stop it,

You're overloading his brain.

This is the real place where Government expenditure should be spent.

PMLN government will show up promoting free market ideology, reducing tax revenue and at the same time spending extortionate amounts on public spending.

And to make it worse, rather than spending on energy development, healthcare, schooling...
They like to spend it on cheap, good for nothing elections ploys like laptops.

So if they come to power their policies would involve two kinds of negatives... rising national debt and no real government schemes for growth and development.

What audience? you are sitting in a economic policy meeting and instead of talking on subject or big culprits he is doing political point scoring against Punjab Govt lol Please don't talk about brain atleast you.. :omghaha: 11 May people of Pakistan will give vote to broad minded, pro development, pro economy and pro Pakistani party Inshallah

.
The First Principle of any Subsidy Scheme is that it should be TARGETED, should benefit only those people who actually need it. The Income Support Program is a global phenomena and there are no two opinions about its requirement.

If it helps, let me tell you that PML-N claims that it was actually their Idea as they proposed in early days of this government when PML-N was part of the coalition.

The Issue with Sasti Roti and Laptop schemes, Solar lamp is that they are not targeted Subsidies or are not the basic necessities and hence the question about the PRIORITIES of Government are raised

Metro Bus: Completed in 30 Billion Rs.
Revenue: 23rd March count 143,879 passengers (143,879x20=2,877.580 Rs in a single day.).
Metro earnings are more than expected and after payment to contractors, little but some revenue is there for the government.

Even with the number of Passengers you quoted it only means a Single Day OPERATIONAL SUBSIDY of ATLEAST 5741000 – 2877580 = 2863420
And this includes only the payment to different contractors, the Governments own Authority (Punjab Metro Bus Authority) expenses including salaries etc are not part of this 5.7 Million figure.

discussing tax to GDP ratio of Punjab like Shahbaz Sharif appointed the Director of FBR lol

It is about Collection of Taxes that fall under jurisdiction of Punjab Government and provincial revenue authorities – Nothing to do with FBR

they are buying votes for 2000 rupee and PML N buying vote for 35000 rupee per head :what: btw laptops cost are around 8 to 9 billion rupee on this cost of laptops PML N could have made IT parks and IT Towers and could have bring some foreign IT firms to pakistan but problem is they are vision less :D

Look who are talking against Asad Omar a person who Made Engro up coming Unilever type company in pakistan with Billions of Rupees turn over and worth multi Billion dollar company  and are competing Yahoodi Lobby companies like nestle and Unilever in pakistan

Subsidies are inherently unfair - does not matter who the target group is - but in politics today subsidies are a political support scheme on one hand, and on the other hand, they are a scheme to maintain status quo in support of those elements in society who do not wish to see their perks/advantages reduced or done away with.

BTW: Where does the money from BISP come from?
