While Pakistan & India face a wide range of differing terrorist threats, the statistics in both countries bring very curious reading:

From 1994-2005, India has had a total of 47371 fatalities, which includes 22492 terrorist deaths, 6728 security personnel death & 18151 civilian deaths. These figures do not include deaths from left wing (maoist) extremists. From 2005-2011, India has had a total of 5233 fatalities, which includes 1743 left wing extremist deaths, 1356 security personnel deaths & 2134 civilian deaths.

From 2003-2011, as a result of the WOT, Pakistan has had 34964 deaths in total, which includes 20893 terrorist deaths, 3699 security forces deaths & 10372 civilian deaths.

While both countries face differing threats from a wide range of sources, the casualty figures in both nations are similar. Although it is fair to say that India faces most of its threats from a wide range of groups, while Pakistan is facing most of them since joining the WOT.
