There’s a lot of nuance in this that depends on the situation, person and shooter. Elaborate on things, tell us what you do, or just call me names if you want below.

For the Old Timers, No! you wont see weird cramped shooting stances here.

And as a general rule whilst walking with your rifle- don’t do the chicken wing

This is basically when your elbow juts out whilst holding the rifle, and it really ruins your slim profile and makes you a bigger target

Another rule of thumb is whilst walking. Crouch lower, but walk with NORMAL sized strides. Taking shorter strides tires out your legs a lot more quickly, as well as making the walking a lot slower and less agile. Furthermore, the reaction to contact when you are in a stance where
Your legs are closer together means that you will be able to absorb recoil less, and your aim will be worse

Sooner or later people are going to post video like this and then call you name hehe ;)

Anyway, we don't do all that in the Army, we were taught to hold the weapon with the support hand out and buttstock stick to your arm pit, that way when you go from rest to engage, you don't lose your axis of aim if you do it right.

*Don't do exaggerated Chicken-Wing. While shooting your rifle your elbow does sticks out a little. YES some shooters do compress the elbow into their bodies. The Thing about exaggerated chicken wing is it restricts your movement in tight spaces(CQB Scenerios) i.e bumping your elbow in threshold.

Crouching Lower; A good way to walk in woods or Recce situations. In open terrain or patrol sure walk normaly.
Short Strides, Shooting while does require you to take short steps. It's called combat walk i.e Heel Toe, Heel Toe

Try walking faster and taking NORMAL sized strides in bushes, marshes OR Recce Work
