Russia's foreign trade surplus grew to $ 212.2 billion in 2012

The surplus of the trade balance of Russia's 2012 compared to 2011 increased by 0.6 percent to 212.2 billion U.S. dollars, said the Federal Customs Service.

"It was formed out of a surplus in the trade balance in the amount of 212.2 U.S. dollars, which is more than 2011 at $ 1.3 billion," reads the statement.

The import to Russia increased last year compared to the index of 2011 by 2.2 percent to $ 312.5 billion. The Russian exports grew by 1.6 percent to $ 524.7 billion.

This is mainly due to oil and gas with arms exports coming in at a distant 3rd.

Anyway good to see Russia doing well after the bad times of the 1990.
