Americans know how to make exotics fighter planes ... they have just been recently eclipsed by Chinese [read j-10, j-20] . in my opinion franc and Sweden comes 2nd.

"F-104 was sort of like owning the sharpest knife in the world. It was an honest airplane; you knew what was going on all the time. but like using a sharp knife, you better not make any mistakes."

Air to Air with the starfighter. The PAF was reportedly the first non NATO operator of the F104, and one of the first to have it in service.
A total of 14 F104As served with the PAF.

The F-104 only served with the 9th Squadron of the PAF due to their limited numbers. Love a mach 2.0+ interceptor!....

In the early days of the XF-104, due to the limitations of the available ejection seat catapults, the seat should fire downwards.
`This allowed for the best capability of clearing A/C structure & the vertical fin at higher speeds. It also effected the wind blasts on the pilot.

This was a particular problem to the German Luftwaffe, which used the F-104G as a low level attack plane. They initiated programs to have the seats upgraded, and eventually decided to have the seats replaced with a seat of Martin-Baker design.
