Rafale TOT

No significant TOT as well for Rafale acqusition when it is fully realized will cost Indonesia at 8 billion USD. I am OK though with 16 planes acquisition. As person who are close to the engineer in PTDI, I have many times stated that Indonesian Aerospace is more into getting TOT through real fighter development, this is where the capacity building really take place for critical technology acquisition. The fund to conduct our own research with university like ITB is also seek as no one will give you real critical fighter technology, so far this program is stopped since 2018.

I think it is missinformation if Alman or other person said that there is AESA radar TOT with Thales in Rafale order.

First it is Thales who make radar, not Dassault. Thales and PT LEN Industry have been collaborating for so long and PT LEN Industry is indeed getting TOT from Thales for AESA radar and it is more because of Indonesia buy 13 Thales GCI radar (AESA).

Second tranche of 18 Rafale for Indonesia enters into the order backlog

(Saint-Cloud, France, August 10, 2023) – As part of the contract signed by Indonesia on February 2022 for the acquisition of 42 Rafale, the second tranche of 18 Rafale came into force today. This follows the entry into force in September 2022 of the first tranche of 6 Rafale, bringing the total number of aircraft on order to 24.

The acquisition of the latest-generation Rafale for the Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Udara (Indonesian National Army Air Force) includes a complete “turnkey” solution as well as a substantial industrial return for the Indonesian aeronautical sector. Educational projects will also be launched as part of the technical training of aeronautical know-how.

The “omnirole” Rafale is a unique asset that will ensure Indonesia’s sovereignty and operational independence and reinforce its role as a major regional power.

“This new step consolidates the beginning of a long-term partnership with the Indonesian authorities, whom I would like to thank once again for their confidence. It testifies to the strategic link that unites Indonesia and France, and will be reflected in the growing presence of Dassault Aviation in the country”, said Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation.

Indonesia, Lockheed Martin sign deal for 24 Black Hawk helicopters

JAKARTA, Aug 23 (Reuters) - Indonesia has signed a dealto buy 24 transport helicopters from U.S. weapons maker LockheedMartin to strengthen its military air fleet, thecountry's defence ministry said on Wednesday.

The purchase comes after Indonesia's defence ministry andU.S. planemaker Boeing signed an agreement on the sale of24 F-15EX fighter jets on Monday.

The latest deal, signed by Indonesia's aerospace state-ownedcompany Dirgantara Indonesia and Lockheed Martin, is forSikorsky S-70M Black Hawk GFA-type helicopters, which thecompany says are commonly used to "deliver and extract troops".

Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia's defence minister, said thepurchase could "increase the strength of Indonesia's military."

The defence ministry did not give a value for the deal.

Indonesia has increased its defence spending in recent yearsto overhaul its fleet, which includes U.S-made F-16 and RussianSukhoi Su-27 and Su-30 jets.

Earlier this month, it said it has bought 12 new drones fromTurkish Aerospace worth $300 million, the latest in a series ofpurchases aimed at modernising the country's ageing militaryequipment, which is taking place amid a fast growing rivalrybetween the United States and China being played out in theSouth China Sea.

It also purchased 12 used Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets thisyear in an $800 million deal that drew criticism as the aircraftwere considered too old.

Last year, Jakarta bought 42 Dassault Rafale fighterjets for $8.1 billion.

Indonesia Selects Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) for Acquisition

In a significant development on September 5, 2023, the Indonesian Ministry of Defense (MoD) solidified its plans to enhance its defense capabilities by selecting the Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT), based on the civilian Airbus A330 for acquisition. This choice follows several years of meticulous evaluation and deliberation, and it marks a pivotal step forward in Indonesia’s efforts to modernize its military capabilities.

The MoD’s announcement revealed that the acquisition plan for the Airbus A330 MRTTs has now entered the “effective contract” phase, indicating a firm commitment to bolstering the country’s air force capabilities. This crucial decision was unveiled following a high-level meeting between Indonesian Deputy Minister of Defense, M Herindra, and representatives from Airbus held in Jakarta.

The Airbus A330 MRTT is not the only product from Airbus that Indonesia has opted for. The MoD statement highlights several other Airbus defense products currently under effective contract with the Indonesian government, including the Anti-Submarine Helicopter (AKS), the H225 transport helicopter, and the A400M transport aircraft. It is noteworthy that the Indonesian Ministry of Defense’s choice of the A330 MRTT comes after four years of thorough research and analysis. During this period, Indonesia considered various tanker platforms for acquisition, including the Boeing KC-46A and the Ilyushin Il-78, alongside the A330 MRTT. The selection of the Airbus A330 MRTT was contingent on factors such as funding options and potential transfer-of-technology arrangements, indicating a meticulous and thoughtful approach to this crucial decision.

New Fleet Strengthens the Navy, Indonesia Buys British Submarine Rescue Ship

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Indonesia continues to strengthen its defense system. The purchase of weapons and combat equipment is continually carried out by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.

The latest news is that Prabowo is making another breakthrough to strengthen the capabilities of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) by purchasing a submarine rescue vessel.

The TNI AL will soon receive new equipment in the form of a Submarine Rescue Vehicle System (SRVS), a submarine designed to evacuate the crew of a sunken submarine or those experiencing problems at the bottom of the sea.

The Indonesian Ministry of Defense and PT BTI Indo Tekno have signed a contract for the procurement of the SRVS on September 1, 2023.

This agreement includes the provision of an advanced technology rescue submarine, the SRV-F Mk.3, as well as a special mothership designed to support emergency submarine rescue missions.
As an illustration, submarines are strategic weapons that play an important role for Navies around the world, including the Indonesian Navy.

The Indonesian Navy, with the Submarine Operations Command (Koopkasel) as the operator of the submarine fleet in Indonesia, will soon be equipped with operational support equipment for submarines in the form of SRVS.

The SRV-F Mk.3 is a modern rescue submarine made by Submarine Manufacturing Products Ltd. (SMP) UK. This rescue submarine carries the concept of "One Out, All Out." With this concept, the SRV-F Mk.3 is designed to be able to rescue the entire submarine crew in one trip.

This is possible because the capacity of the SRV-F Mk.3 includes 50 passengers and 3 crew to operate it.
The SRV-F Mk.3 also has a "hybrid" design, allowing it to be carried by a mothership, as well as by airplane, and land transportation, providing a significant advantage over other systems.

The SRV-F Mk.3 will be carried by a mothership, which is also equipped with various advanced equipment, such as a "dedicated decompression chamber."

The mothership to be operated by Koopkasel is capable of supporting submarine rescue operations, as well as the ability to provide first aid with medical support to the submarine crew who are successfully rescued.

With the signing of the SRVS contract, Indonesia will become the operator of the most advanced SRVS in the region, boosting the capabilities and combat readiness of the Indonesian submarine fleet, and ensuring the safety of the crew operating it.
