Jakarta - PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) again supports the largest basketball competition in the country Honda Development Basketball League (DBL) to develop the potential of the younger generation in the field of basketball. After being successfully held in 20 cities in Indonesia, the 2023 Honda DBL series is currently entering the Final round for the DKI Jakarta series which is held at the proud sports stadium Indonesia Arena, Gelora Karno complex, Jakarta on Friday (17/11).

At the peak of the DKI Jakarta Series this time, as many as 12,000 viewers watched the final round where the boys team of SMA Jubilee Jakarta and also the girls team of SMA 70 Jakarta won the championship. This number of spectators set a new record for the highest attendance in a single national basketball match in Indonesia. This grand competition event is even more special because talented young athletes can experience firsthand the sensation of competing in the same arena as the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 players. The award presentation of the winners was given directly by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo. More complete, AHM also gave prizes in the form of special edition Honda Scoopy motorcycles in collaboration with Honda DBL and Indonesia Arena to the winning teams.

Starting in July 2023, this competition forum for the young generation of basketball lovers has been completed in Surabaya, Jakarta, Padang, Banjarmasin, Malang, Madiun, Jember, Palembang, Mataram, Semarang, Solo, Makassar, Denpasar, Yogyakarta, Manado, Banda Aceh, and Pontianak. Until the middle of this season, the 2023 Honda DBL competition has been attended by 416 schools from 11 provinces in Indonesia. As many as 591 teams and more than 13,000 students have participated in this competition.

General Manager Marketing Planning and Analysis Division AHM Andy Wijaya said AHM's consistency for 16 years supporting the implementation of Honda DBL proves the company's commitment to accompany every meaningful dream of young people in Indonesia, including realizing dreams in the world of basketball. They can hone their abilities and competencies so that they are able to appear outstanding while still prioritizing education.

"Honda DBL is expected to inspire the younger generation to continue to hone their competencies to realize their dreams. We invite young athletes to join and develop their basketball potential in the rest of the Honda DBL series this season," said Andy.

This student basketball competition at the Senior High School (SMA) level implements a student athlete system by placing school education as a top priority since 2008. In line with this, Honda DBL consistently continues to strengthen important aspects in order to build the positive character of the younger generation in this national basketball competition. During the competition, students are taught and required to be like professional players who prioritize cooperation, discipline, unyielding attitude and also respect their surroundings while still prioritizing school education.

The 2023 Honda DBL series leaves 10 more competitions that will be held in Bandung, Pekanbaru, Bogor, Tangerang, Jambi, Medan, Kupang, Samarinda, Jayapura, and closed in Lampung in February 2024. In addition to supporting the running of basketball competitions, AHM also held roadshows to schools and competition locations with various activities such as games, training and socialization of driving safety campaigns through #cari_aman, and various other attractive sales programs.
