Pakistan Navy Overseas deployments and exercises

The Pakistani and Polish Navies conducted a PASSEX in the Baltic Sea, the guided missile frigate PNS Zulfiquar (F251) and the MCMV ORP Kormoran (601) participated.

The Pakistani warship is on an international operational deployment to Europe and Russia.

PNS ZULFIQUAR VISITS GERMANY DURING OVERSEAS DEPLOYMENT

Pakistan Navy Ship ZULFIQUAR visited Hamburg, Germany, as part of Pakistan Navy overseas deployment. Upon arrival at port, the ship was warmly welcomed by Naval & Air Attache (Pakistan) Berlin and officials from German Navy.

Pakistan Navy (PN) FFG-7 frigate PNS Alamgir) is on multi-national exercise ‘Dogu Akdeniz-19’ (Eastern Mediterrenean-19 in Turkish), the exercise includes the navies of Turkey, the United States, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Greece, Spain and Canada. Pakistan Navy the defenders of Pakistan Sea Frontiers.

PNS Alamgir and RNOV Al-Rasikh conducted joint RMSP exercise. PNS ALAMGIR is named after emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir (1618-1707), who was the sixth Muslim ruler of Great Mughal Empire. PNS ALAMGIR is the third ship to bear this name.

conducted naval exercises. Lead ship of the Zulfiquar Class of Guided Missile Frigates, PNS Zulfiquar and the Sigma-Class Frigate RMNS Sultan Moulay Ismail jointly practiced to enhance interoperability between the navies of the two brotherly countries. Upon culmination of the exercises, the Zulfiquar continued on its operational deployment to the Mediterranean Sea.

The warship has visited the UK, Poland, Russia, Germany, Morocco and Algeria on a deployment to Africa, Europe and the Middle East. PNS Zulfiquar will also visit Saudi Arabia after transiting the Suez Canal.

Pakistan Navy’s lead ship of the Zulfiquar Class of Guided Missile Frigates, PNS Zulfiquar & TCG Gökçeada from Turkey’s Navy participated in Operation Mediterranean Shield in the eastern Mediterranean Sea & a PASSEX was conducted between the two navies. Pakistan and Turkey are committed to maritime security in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

Two warships of the Pakistan Navy including PNS Azmat and one other arrived at Iran’s naval port. The Pakistani and Iranian Navy will hold joint military drills on Lark Island in the Strait of Hormuz.

During the visit, the Pakistan Navy delegation will hold meetings with Iran’s navy and military officials on bilateral relations and naval collaboration.

Pakistan Navy Ship ZULFIQUAR visited port Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as part of overseas deployment. Upon arrival at port, the ship was received by Pakistan Naval & Air Attache at Saudi Arabia and officials of Royal Saudi Naval Force (RSNF).

During stay at port, RSNF Commander Western Naval Fleet Command Rear Admiral Yahya Bin Mohammad Al Asiri and Commander Western Naval Aviation Group Rear Admiral Mohammad Bin Saeed Al Ahmri visited onboard PN Ship and called-on Mission Commander Commodore Syed Rizwan Khalid. During the interaction, matters of mutual interest were discussed and contribution of Pakistan Navy to regional peace and maritime security were acknowledged by the visiting dignitary. Mission Commander also conveyed well wishes from Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi for the people of Saudi Arabia in general and RSNF in particular.

Earlier to Jeddah port visit, PNS ZULFIQUAR separately conducted passage exercises with Italian Navy Ship VEGA & Turkish Navy Ship TCG GOKCEADA at Mediterranean Sea. The exercises encompassed Advanced Maritime Maneuvers including Maritime Interdiction Operations, Boarding and Force Protection drills. The exercises were aimed to enhance military cooperation through naval engagement and augment interoperability between the friendly navies.

During the Overseas Deployment, PNS ZULFIQUAR participated in Russian Navy Day Parade besides port visits and conduct of bilateral exercises with friendly countries in Europe and North Africa. Conduct of such deployments by Pakistan Navy Ships is a reaffirmation of PN’s commitment and growing cooperation with friendly navies of the world. Furthering of naval diplomacy in the form of goodwill visits and naval exercises with friendly countries always remain in focus and such activities are planned round the year.

It is believed that operational deployments of PN Ships will further reinforce Navy to Navy relations and will go a long way in strengthening diplomatic relations with friendly countries.

Trilateral maritime exercise

Pakistan Navy Ship ALAMGIR participated in trilateral maritime exercise with American ship USS SHILOH and German Navy ship FGS BAYERN in North Arabian Sea. Earlier to this trilateral exercise, PNS ALAMGIR participated in a separate exercise with US Navy ship.

The exercises were aimed to enhance interoperability, mutual learning and experience sharing among participating navies. The exercise proved to be mutually rewarding in strengthen navy to navy relations.

Pakistan Navy has always remained committed in maintaining peace and security in the Indian Ocean Region and beyond. Trilateral and bilateral exercises were a testimony of PN resolve in maintain good order at sea for regional peace and maintain close naval ties with other navies.

During exercises yesterday of the Pakistan Navy with the navies of the United States and Germany, air defence against F/A-18 Hornets from aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan was practised, as well as anti-submarine exercises that lasted into the night.

Navies of Pakistan, German and the United States conducted a two-day passing exercise in the Arabian Sea, which concluded on Tuesday.
The exercise was held with an aim of strengthening cooperation and advancing a common vision to ensure peace and stability. Multiple ships from the partner nations, including Pakistan Navy’s PNS Alamgir, the USS Shiloh and the German Navy’s FGS Bayern, operated in close proximity to promote interoperability, share maritime knowledge, and improve maritime domain awareness. The second day of the training was bilateral between Pakistan and the United States to continue building on the important and substantive collaboration.
The frigate Bayern is a part of German Navy’s Indo-Pacific Deployment 2021. Bayern with its crew of over 200 sailors left the German port of Wilhelmshaven for Asia on Aug 2, and it will join in maritime monitoring of the UN sanctions against North Korea, dock at ports in partner countries and take part in multilateral activities. During its six-month mission the frigate is scheduled to call at several ports — Karachi being the first one in the region. After weeks at sea, the German crew is also looking forward to discovering the picturesque city life and famous hospitality of its first port of call in Asia.
 
PNS Alamgir and USS Shiloh conducting joint exercises in the Arabian Sea, September 2021. Pakistan will work with our partners to ensure security in the Arabian Sea and Persian Gulf from those that wish to destabilise maritime shipping routes in the region.
