According to DG health Sindh, who is currently on ARY, virus is not yet confirmed, they are waiting for reports.

Looks like there is no way to contain this contagion. Its spread seems to be inevitable

Those who traveled along with this 22 year old male, are also quarantined. It should have been stopped on border way before it made it to Pakistan.
Those who traveled with him, and met him in the last 14 days, and those who met those who met him.. should also be quarantined.. it works like that..

Will Disaster Management Authority quarantine the whole city and restrict movement in and out of the city?

25 million people live in Karachi if you must know.

So unless and until someone comes up with an official statement, i would ask for calm and patience. the city has a habit of erupting in violence at the slightest hint of anarchy. i was on the streets in Karachi when Benazir died, it was like the trumpet has blown and all that exist does not matter.

so calm down

Everyone should start following this guideline no matter what:

There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility).
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
For information about handwashing, see CDC’s Handwashing website

For information specific to healthcare, see CDC’s Hand Hygiene in Healthcare Settings

These are everyday habits that can help prevent the spread of several viruses. CDC does have specific guidance for travelers.

World Health Organization recommendations on the safe home care for patients with suspected novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV):

Infection report coming from Pakistan was only a matter of time. Only thing is to contain and treat. Let's pray that this particular case haven't spread it to others before diagnosis.

Latest data put R0 to btw 4 and 6... One contaminated can contaminate around 4 to 6 in a 2-3m radius...
And those next guys will be ready to contaminate in the first 30mins/1h...

This chap flew from Iran to Karachi, no border crossing. Its a failure of measures at the airport.

Even if it's not confirmed. Hit the issue with a hammer. Quarantine him and anyone in close contact. Better safe than sorry. This got out of hand in Iran because they were relaxed.
