QUETTA: The Balochistan Coastal Development Authority (BCDA) has decided to launch projects for developing tourism centres under public-private partnership.

A meeting presided over by Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani on Saturday reviewed the progress on the BCDA’s development projects aimed at promoting tourism in the province.

While briefing the meeting, BCDA Director General Babar Khan Kakar said that a master plan of the coastline was being prepared and feasibility studies of five fishing sites had been included in the tourism promotion projects. He said seven eco-tourism resorts, construction of nine rest areas at the coastal highway and other projects had also been prepared.

Mr Khan said construction of eight floating jetties, five beach parks and two nurseries of salicornia had also been included in the development projects. He said tourist resorts at Gadani, Miani Hour, Kund Malir, Ormara, Pasni, Gwadar Marine Drive and Jewani Sunset Point would be set up.

The chief minister asked the authorities concerned to review the current composition of the governing body of BCDA and submit amendments to the law. The secretaries of finance, local government, public health engineering and environment departments also attended the meeting.

The government intends to convert #Balochistan’s Charna Island into a “National Marine Park”.

According to sources, SAPM on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has given a report to Prime Minister Imran Khan in this regard.

The premier has asked the concerned authorities to make arrangements for turning Charna Island into a ‘Marine Park’.

As per the PM’s directives, the SAPM on Climate Change stepped out to visit the Island. However, he will thoroughly review the situation there and will also receive undersea pictures taken.

Churna Island is situated at the boundary between the provinces of Balochistan and Sindh and is around 9 km west of the orifice of the Hub River called “Manjhar Beach”.
