What's new

Saudi Arabia buys the full Grom-2 missile project

So they just bought the entire Missile project just like that I must genius and smart move. Saudi Arabia needs to start producing both Ballistic and Cruise Missiles and also design and develop non nuclear but seriously deadly war heads also

There are many reports that say KSA was working on its indigenous missile programs.. much before this one..
The main characteristic of the GROM-2 project is its versatility and multi-use potential; on top of a short range BM _Equivalent of the Russian Iskander technology-wise_ of 500 km (that can be extended to 1300 km), and a cruise missile of 1250 km.. there are possibilities for shore-defence missiles, air-defence missiles and MLRS variants.. it is a real Swiss-knife missile project.. There was also some talk about space launch vehicles..

$4 Million appears quite low for a Senstitive missile technology

Was expecting it to be in 2.5 to 3 Billion range , suprised no support industry came with package

Saudi Arabia has revived the project with what was announced as $40 million..on reality it was more than that maybe up to $400 million.. they are commited to buy the system (MTCR compliant) from Ukraine, and make their own based on the Technology transfer.. they will share the intellectual property rights 50/50, just like they did with the AN-132.. only this time, they will each develop their own national systems to avoid the MTCR constraints..

The mil.in.ua a Ukrainian military website released photographs of a new Grom-2 (Thunder-2) tactical missile system developed by Yuzhnoye Design Office and A.M. Makarov Southern Machine-Building Plant.
Recently released imagery and reports in the Ukrainian media suggest that the new Grom-2 (Thunder-2) tactical missile system was close to the finish line.
As is known, the new operational-tactical missile system developed for Saudi Arabia.

So what, still you will not be able to build that. You don't have the technology and the engineering. When you try buy chips or material, they will not sell it:-). From now on 10 year later if you invest in indusrty you will mayb able.

Good luck...

What are you talking about?
Do you know that Saudi Arabia is quite advanced in science and technology.. mostly regarding electronics and petrochemicals..chips and boards are already made in KSA by Saudi scientists, they also make Supercomputers and satellites among thousands of other technologies.. material science is quite advanced up to the level of nano-technologies and carbon fiber.. but still advancing on all fronts to reach a worldwide position 12 years from now..
You should correct your perception about Saudi Arabia.. it is a bit flawed.. just research it and you''ll be surprised and amazed..Look for the Industrial projects for example..Furthermore.. no country buys Technology if it does not have the infrastructure, scientists and technicians to make it into a product and develop it further through R&D in which Saudi Arabia has announced adding $5 billion..

This is S-300 missile tests.

And here is mythical "Grom-2". Some kind of alleged "engine" (as Ukies claim) is blowing up on second launch.

That is not the S-300..read the title of the video again.. it might resemble it but its another system..

They push the engine beyond its limits.. till it explodes.. everything is calculated to a certain limit, and since it is a new engine they pushed it to see where is its limit.. or maximum thrust..

Very good step..and it looks very good.. It might have some components from the T-90 MS and some from the Armata.. anyways..it is a nice concept..

This is S-300 tests from 2016 and the title is BS.

You dont push first prototype of engine on first or second launch to its limits. You just merely check whether it works or not. Then increase the time and power in small interactions.

These are tests not launches..they test till the limit.. if you know Engineering tests on materials.. you'll know that most materials are load tested till they brake which defines they strength and shear limits.. be it concrete, steel or composite materials.. and since the engine is made of many materials the test is one for the combination of those materials under extreme stress, be it heat or else..

There are two different systems in the first video.. the Grom-2 which is a SRBM that has nothing to do with air-defence systems.. the second system called SAM "Dnipro" is the air-defence system that resembles the Russian S-300..

And im talking about engine tests. Official video released by Ukrainian factory said the engine demonstrator failed and exploded during second test run and commision investigated reason of failure.

The video you posted is reuploaded air-defence drill video with fake title.

There were never any official claims from Ukraine that they ever did any test launches of Grom-2 missiles. The "SAM Dnipro" is another fantasy Ukrainian paper project.
