What's new

Camron's ancestors commited mass atrocities in India.

oh yeah. i just googled it. they were a disorganised tribal people who are regarded as being the "stupidist of Muslims'. that is what one google source says about pukhtoons or pashtuns. i find that offensive actually. but at least we can distance them from hinduism. thank god and thank you for sorting that out:tup:

:)))) well even that word is better than be associated with hinduism.

Now on a serious note i dont care what some morons say about us Pukhtoons. We are proud being Pukhtoons and being Muslims.

Period

so what were the pakhtoons before they became muslims? christians or jews ?

Originally Pagans, influenced by Ariana and became Zoristrian, influenced Hellenic culture and became pagans again, influenced by Buddhism (which became a major religion), Buddhism replaced by Islam.

Pakhtoons have always been a strange lot. I love reading our history. It is said varying tribes worshipped various pagan gods prior to Islam coming into the lands, this is why it is difficult to say Pakhtoons were following Buddhism at the time.

Further proof of limited Buddhism penetration in the region is the sites in Taxila and the Ashoka Stones in Mansehra. In fact if you wander into the far less trodden villages of in KP you often come across pagan ritual sites which have now be protected by the UN.

There is no doubt that Buddhism had a tremendous impact from Mauryans this civilisation fought with the Greeks and they Greeks came to a bitter cease fire agreement they would give Gandhara and Arachosia (bagram) hence (bagram buddah) to the Mauryans and the remaining territory would stay with the Macedonian at the time.

305BC was the rise of Buddhism within the region. Their history can be traced back to a rough date, they have many shrines and temples along the area, but one thing is for sure:

Between the
Ariana's
Greeks
Mauryans
Macidonian's
Greco-Bactrian
The Khusan Empire and the eventual Sarisan Rule, there is hardly any written record which corroborates the establishment and mass practice of a major religion.

The entire region has a feel of a land touched by so many great cultures, but never embraced. This almost xeno-cultural trend exists today between tribes and clans of Pakhtoons and Afghans.

Huh...How do you know? You are so anti Hindu that you cannot even imagine the possibility of your ancestors being Hindus.

Frankly speaking its not about anti-hindu its about fixing misconception of Indians who think that all the Muslims here in Pakistan have hindu roots.
If my ancestors were not Pukhtoons then i would have consider the slightest possibility of hindu roots.

now i do not know which history they teach you in India

well we are proud of being indians and hindus, sikhs, muslims as well. our pride has something to show for it. hey isnt your people causing all the problems for pakistan in swat ? ttp? i also googled it and it says that mulluh omar a pakhtoon refused to hand bin laden to the states and that is the justification bush had to invade afghanistan. if mullah omar just said that bin laden wasnt there then they wouldnt be hiding in caves. that is what google says. reminds me of that comment about pakhtoons being labelled "stupid part of islam" lol. but carry on with your pride. good for you. way 2 go

Pukhtoon is not a religion. These people must have had some religion prior to Islam.

:)))) and that religion/practice has nothing to do with hindus genes ;)

so dont try to find any pride for hindus by trying to establish their link with us

  • Boran
  • Toran
  • Seyani
  • Dotaani
  • Niazi
  • Lodi
  • Sherwani (tribe)
  • Swati
  • Suri (Pashtun)
  • Marwat
  • Lohani (Pashtun)

Had influences from varying cultures and religions "Budhism" being one of them (read: Buddhism/ not Hinduism), there is no documented evidence which states the prevalence of any major religion with the tribes, i have a shajra "Family Tree dating back to the Barakzai dynasty" and even then its a mish mash.

Refer back to my post the various Arianic/Greco and pagan religious influences in the region.

RescueRanger, thanks for the informative posts. As far as I know, ancient Gandhar region is located in north Pakistan and Afghanistan. People in Gandhar followed Vedas, not Avesta. The famous university of Takhhashila also was located there and earned it's fame by teaching vedic knowledge. Are present day Pakhtuns are descendent of those people, or they arrived from middle east as suggested by some studies?

No incorrect, again i will come back to my first post. Afghanistan and the border belt of Pakistan is a mish mash of religions, cultures, and nations. To claim that all inhabitants of the region followed one religion is complete fallacy, even during the saracen rule, many Pathans such as the Isa-khaels followed paganism.

There is no document that corroborates the statement that there was a Major religion in this area, partly due to the cultural and tribal nature of the people, they were and still are very introvert and jealously guard what they perceive to be "their" cultures and customs.

Gandhar region is located in north Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Yes it is as described in my first post.

People in Gandhar followed Vedas, not Avesta.
You see you are now getting confused The Gandahara Civilisation flourished during the Mauryans reign in 305BC prior to that there is sufficient archaeological and cultural evidence to support the founding of Zoristrian belief in Afghanistan region during the reign of Zarathushtra in the city of Balkh and since most history of Pathans can be traced back to 550BC and Zrarthushtra propagated Zoroastrianism in 500BC.

The famous university of Takhhashila also was located there and earned it's fame by teaching vedic knowledge.

As stated earlier Taxila is in the Punjab/Hazara belt where Ashoka wrote his famous edict on the stones of Ashoka, there are two entirely different places from the tribal belts.

Are present day Pakhtuns are descendent of those people, or they arrived from middle east as suggested by some studies?

Again you are kind of jumping the gun, there is so much going on in that region that you cannot just pin it down to one culture. It would be very unwise to make such claims.

As stated earlier there is significant evidence of Zorastrian, Greco Pagan, Buddhist and Islamic influence in the region, there is no evidence to support which was the major religion at any given time in that region.

I suggest some independent reading:
The Pathans: 550 BC - AD 1957 - Sir Olaf Caroe.

David Cameron is an young dynamic, bold and righteous person. He is fearless and speaks from the heart. He is very religious and a down to earth person, who believes in simplicity of life and a truthful way of living. He has been able to win over the hearts of Brits with his forward looking ideas, a person who believes in delivering and not just talking.
He is the Rajiv Gandhi of Britain in every respect.

Funny you say this, because public opinion in Britain seems to be quite the opposite. Thought it's quite understandable for Indians to excited about him rather than the British.
