Buoyed by its success in the Balakot air strikes against a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist camp in Pakistan, the Indian Air Force is now planning to buy an advanced version of the Spice-2000 bomb, which can completely destroy buildings and bunkers.

During the Balakot strikes, the Air Force had dropped Spice-2000 bombs from Mirage-2000 fighter aircraft after a pack of 12 of these fighters crossed the Line of Control to strike the Jaish facility in the Khyber Pakhtunwa province.

However, the Spice-2000 bombs used in the Balakot strikes were the penetrator version which made holes using their weight in the concrete rooftops of the buildings in the Jaish camp which don't destroy buildings but explode inside killing people with the mix of 70-80 kg explosives with shrapnel.

"The IAF is now planning to acquire the bunker buster or the building destroyer version with Mark 84 warhead which can decimate targeted buildings," government sources told ANI.

The acquisition is likely to be done through the emergency powers granted to the three services for buying any equipment of their choice worth up to Rs 300 crore to prepare for any hostilities, they said.

Under the powers, the Army has already made up its mind to buy Spike anti-tank guided missiles deployment against any possible armoured threat posed by the enemy troops.

The Spice-2000 bombs have been acquired from Israel which is one of the main weapon and ammunition supplier of the Air Force.

The Balakot air strikes were conducted by the Air Force in response to the Pulwama terrorist attack on a CRPF convoy in which 44 personnel lost their lives.

laughable

They should by similar weapons from Pakistan.
Emergency weapons purchase mean they know what happened to them, but they are not admitting.

IAF is speaking truth....

It was extremely successful in killing our trees and it murdered our singular crow.

So yeah.. they need more such weapons for achieving same success in the future!

#TreeKillerIAF

#CrowKillerIAF
yeah evident from the time it took PA to remove all the evidence, like "weather khaarab tha ji" and weather was kharaab for like 2 months? :disagree:

Do they want to kill more crows?

Mirage 2000 has been extremely successful for IAF as a multirole aircraft.
It’s a proven air to ground precision strike aircraft.

Balakot air strikes: Upto 170 Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were killed, confirms foreign journalist

Amid continuing political debate in India over the efficacy of the February 26 Balakot airstrikes in Pakistan, a foreign journalist has confirmed that up to 170 terrorists belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group were killed in the Indian Air Force action. The IAF air strikes in Balakot came days after the deadly Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 40 jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were martyred. JeM had claimed responsibility for the attack. The news report by Francesca Marino in stringerasia.it has come just days after JeM chief Masood Azhar was listed as a global terrorist by the United Nations Security Council’s Sanctions Committee after China lifted its technical hold. The report points out that Pakistan Army treats Shinkiari as its base camp and the Junior Leaders Academy is situated there. The journalist reports quoting sources that while the Indian Air Force bombed the JeM camp at 3.30 am on February 26, 2019, a unit of the Pakistan Army reached the spot at around 6 am. The Pakistan Army unit came from their camp in Shinkiari, located some 20 kilometres away. The report points out that Pakistan Army treats Shinkiari as its base camp and the Junior Leaders The Army unit quickly evacuated the injured to a Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) camp in Shinkiari, where Pakistan Army doctors were brought in for treatment. The journalist claims that between 130 to 170 JeM terrorists were killed in the air strikes, including 20 who died during the treatment. Some 45 injured are still undergoing treatment at the HuM camp. Further, the Army has not allowed those injured who have recovered to leave the camp. Among those who were killed in the IAF action included 11 trainers. While some of them were involved in bomb-making, others were imparting weapons training. The report said two such trainers were from Afghanistan. The report goes on to state that efforts were made to ensure the news on the fatalities was not leaked to the media. In fact, the kin of terrorists killed or injured were visited by JeM cadres and given cash compensation. The Pakistan Army is now in control of the JeM camp, from where all traces of the terror group and its chief Masood Azhar have been removed. Even the local police is not allowed access to the bombed facility.
