What's new

India test fires hypersonic missile.

No need to go on tht route... U cant fight this tit for tat war with them. Just get ababeel ready asap. If possible increase its range too.
A few ababeels shud shut everything up

Very recent testings. Expect a decade to pass before they are even inducted.

Not a decade. 5 to 6 years max. Laser Dazzlers already inducted.

Even if it comes at that time, we shall be either third or fourth to have it.

5 to 6 years? China tested one in 2013, and it is being inducted in at 2020-2021. USA Navy tested laser weapons in early 2010, they are yet to be inducted.

Apparently, they are ahead of us. What's your point?

Give reference of China's test in 2013 or at any time.

I did not make any reference to a scramjet.

That exactly is the point. Hypersonic speed is not difficult but using scremjet is a big task. India has Chinese sort of hypersonic missile a long before China. Check Shaurya missile with speed of Mac 8.

Agree.

Tentative induction year is 2028.

The Chinese test to which you agree, India tested much advance missile of that technology in early 2000. Check Shaurya missile. Hypersonic speed is not difficult but what is difficult is to achieve it by using scremjet technology.

More likely skip glide vehicle to me rather than a scramjet powered flight but might be first glide test for system checks but in next test flights it will be powered flight, anyway congratulations to India

@Surya 1 USA/Russia have been working/resarching scramjet tech since 80s only Russian recently inducted zircon missile into their arsenal, if scramjet tech is that easy to research/work then USA/Russia had scramjet vehicle in late 80s or mid 90s, may be USA/Russia is helping you to research and develop scramjet vehicle

On bold part, I don't think so. Russian and US have not even provided Indians ToT for Jet engines, ScramJet tech. is altogether a different ball-game.

Besides, I think we should give credit to their achievement (hyper sonic). It could be based on Russian or anyone else's tech model but that has been always the case. Human learn and evolve..... even US/Russian learnt Jet tech from Nazis, China copied (reverse engineered to be docile) Russian tech etc etc.
