Turkish Naval Programs

... and what's now without an air asset?

Egyptian Navy has 2 MISTRAL class LHDs to carry Russian KA-52K Atttack Helicopters which equipped with ARBALET X band Radar can detect hostile vessels at a range of 150-180km and armed with 130km KH-35 anti ship missiles

TCG ANADOLU Amphibious Assault Ship

almost We lost F-35B Fighter Jet option for TCG ANADOLU

Turkey can develop Naval version of ATAK-II heavy Attack Helicopter which equipped with AESA Radar and armed with 2 x SOM-J network enabled Cruise missiles ( range of 280 km ) ... and SOM-J will have anti ship/land attack capabilities

ATAK-II will have 1200kg weapon payload capacity and SOM-J missile is 500kg

also Sikorksy S-70D Seahawk ASW Helicopters for anti Submarine Warfare

TCG ANADOLU carrier configuration can be so by 2027-2028

-- Sikorksy S-70D Seahawk ASW Helicopters
-- VTOL UAVs

beautiful ship, we should have more.
LST ships are best suited to our regional conditions in terms of amphibious operations. LSTs with helicopter hangar( for 3 heli e.g ) and its basic flight maintenance capability should be our priority, instead of thinking more LPD / LPH. Bayraktar's superstructure can be arranged to provide flight hangar and maintenance, for 3rd and 4th ships...

Yeah I agree, there was one Turkish LST design that I really liked but I can't find the image. It was a cross between LHD and LST.

But for helicopters and UAVs only an LHD without a ski-ramp would be much better suited...

the first plan was shorter flight deck without ski-jump ramp for use with only Helicopters
but later Turkish Navy planned to use F-35B Fighter Jets on TCG ANADOLU and the Turkish Navy changed its plan and opted for a fully equipped flight deck with the ski-jump ramp
and now , as you know the US blocks sale of even F-35A to Turkey .... still F35 issue not solved

maybe the problem will be solved in near future and we can buy F35Bs for TCG ANADOLU or we will use TCG ANADOLU as Helicopter Carrier

TAIS has such a concept. There are also preliminary designs for Malaysia's Multirole Support Ship (MRSS) project. However, I mentioned that a solution can be produced through the Bayraktar class to shorten the design process. In this way, a platform around 9k tons, which preserves the ability to cover the beach, but also supports all type helicopter operations, can be gained.(Of course there is no such project, I'm just saying my opinion)
overview%2BBayraktar.jpg

1. Waiving the vehicle park on the upper deck of the ship and placing the cranes and LCVPs in this section.(Slightly reducing the amphibious landing capability)

2a. Extension of the Accomodation / Bridge to the cranes&LCVPs section currently, thereby creating space for the hangar at the bottom. (Acquisition of flight operations capability) 2b. Extending back deck length of the ship for 1 more helicopter spot.

no, saw these pics on twitter as well tho.

Honestly, it remains to be seen what they will put onto this ship, I think we can defintive place some sea hawks on them but besides that nothing is clear since no f-35 at least for a couple of years. Maybe harriers if the turkish navy sees the need for such an aircraft right now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It has been discussed and concluded by TN that ski-jump doesnt affect rotary craft operations. Moreover, it was reported that removing ski-jump would cost more than letting it to be there. Australian LHD also has ski-jump without any purposes of utilization (as of now).

There should be bulkheads at the fore side of supper structure (on the roots) and also beneath the cranes. if this is going to happen, supper structure would leap one section towards the fore along with cranes (as you have already told), eliminating free space entirely on upper deck. The concern is not giving up on free space but resulting in a shift of center of the mass.
Also, it is prefferred supper structure to have direct vertical link to machinery rooms, this plan would break this accessibility.
Telescopic (aliminum) hangars could be an option with slight modifications. Allowing for maintenance of a single heli. A fixed hangar, however, would require major modifications such as extension of the hull, and rearrangment of the main deck allowing for 2 helis in the hangar (the ship is 20 meters wide,it is possible to store 2 of them)
I think if TN makes such a requirement, industry would make it happen in the next ships.
