Featured Would having Rafale on Feb 27, 2019 made any difference?

I am seeing all this hype around Rafale on our national and regional TV news channels today...I am not an expert in military affairs.
I would like to know from experts here(pak or indian) that would Rafales have made a difference on feb 27 last year when pak jets entered india?would pak have dared to enter indian air space had we had rafales back then?
Would Rafales have succeeded in downing pakistani jets? Are we over exaggerating the importance of Rafales?are the jets which pak has now are good enough to fight rafales?
Please keep your answers confined to technicalities only..no trolling or india bashing plz

Depends on who was flying the aircraft. In the end, it's the pilot's instincts, skills and experience that win/lose a dogfight.

Abhinandan is also highly experienced but he made judgmental errors that cost his mission dearly.

Su 30mki is not as effective as it was 20years ago is totally due to our mod and iaf incompetence in upgrading it. Its upgradation should have started 5-10 years ago. Its not the platform that is to be blamed but the sheer mod/iaf/babus shortshightedness and redtapes. Paf is much better in improving their force with low budgets but our forces only wants new shiny foreign toys rather than supporting indigenous products and upgrading existing platforms.

parties like BJP , jantadal, communists , and regional parties are responsible for lack of modernisation in army navy airforce , they made so much hue and cry for kickbacks in army deals of bofors that a.k. antony and congress stopped new purchases after bofors deal.now this fool modi is purchasing rafaels at high price .

This insane idea is planted by Modi by giving the infamous statement "Ager humaray pass Rafale hotay"

Here we are still talking about Modi's statement who doesn't know anything about Military or Jets. Heck he is a freaking Chai wala. This topic is not worth discussing about.

Lets say Pakistan destroys Rafale in another skirmish. What then? We are going to make post about what if IAF had F35?

So there is the "rub". Can the IAF use its new Rafales with sufficient competence? Are Indian pilots as good at flying an aircraft as are Pakistani pilots who fly a similar aircraft?

As a outside observer, it does seem to me that Pakistan gives much, much higher status to its military people and especially its fighter pilots. Therefore, probably Pakistani pilots are the among the most competent citizens of their society. Can the same be said for IAF pilots?

only pilots can't take territories . you need army to take territory and keep it in your hands .

Even without any sort of upgrades it's a very potent platform

modi did not know china will attack india .

yes you are right ,
our pilots were relaxing on 27th feb morning after a lot of work done on balakot madarsa for modi . only fools will sleep in the morning after striking enemy in the previous night .
any way now we should learn some lessons from feb 27 .
Nah... It's not like that... We had our petrol going on... Our jets took them head on even being outnumbered... Actually we were unchallenged a day before... So you see who was relaxing

Again, what part of Indian story do we think had changed if Rafale were already operational in Feb 2019?
  • India did come into Pakistani airspace and landed bombs (they missed targets, the blame is on spice2000 bombs not the jets).
  • Rafale could not have blocked Pakistani standoff weapons attacking Indian targets which was a surprise attack.
The only imaginable part that could potentially change is that Rafale could dater PAF from conducting a counter strike on India - but Indians do not understand Pakistan's resolve here. Pakistan would have responded and pounded Indian bases regardless. After PAF's counterstrike, if Rafale had entered into Pakistani airspace, instead of Mig-21, a Rafale would have shot down.

you are right , i am ashamed of indian anchors , retards don't know their job .
Indeed, in some ways China have been the mature party but we have a free media here and they (ccp) control all of the media there to the max extent possible, of course many wily Chinese people use VPNs but the vast majority don't get news the government wants to suppress.

Their job is creating hysteria, it's a tamasha for these fools.. TRP, ratings, advert revenue...

The Indian government response is the only thing we should look for, not TV nonsense.. and they have been quite measured too.

Chances of some big border skirmish with all the toys deployed there being tested offensively are quite slim, almost none. They are learning, adapting, over all it's good to have real world experience as far as the forces go.

Has been a wake up call though. Good joint forces synergy, China know we are not kidding, dragon will try these probing tactics in the SCS next against weaker powers than India.. which is why quad have been busy practicing there and Trump sent 3? carrier battle groups in the region.

I'm back after 10 years on PDF, can members name some users who post good technical posts on these topics now? would like to follow their posts. Back then there were many like sancho, desert falcon many members I forgot names.. one PAF veteran too..

brother we should have known enemy will come with full force , but sanghis used our airforce for propaganda in return we came with bloody nose with red face , our pilot was captured . that was the biggest shame .

Lol,its not the MKI thats not effective. Its the vanilla R-77.Change the BVR and you will see the f-16s run away with their tail between their legs.MKI is fundamentally a better aircraft.Still on 27th it takes over a dozen f-16s just to hold back a couple su-30mkis.Shooting AMRAAMs at long range can give you advantage in skirmish, but in all out massed attack PAF will be decimated ,no need for rafales.260 MKIs are alone enough. Its a beast. And has got r-77-1 and astra now.

Rafale is needed for 3 things mainly - meteor,SPECTRA and SEAD/DEAD against s-300/400 class air defence.

very true .

Yes big difference. I think all rafales are for pakistan.i don't see India deploying these jets against china.we need something to detect it. Detection of rafale is key for us.i hope we will find a solution or probably already have it.

This is akin to asking if India having M2K in 1965 would have enabled it to win the war over Pakistan.

The answer is Yes, But you have to fight with what you have today. You cannot fight with what you will have in the future.

By the time Rafales are operationally ready in IAF, PAF will have more surprises in store and the result of 27th Feb, 2019 is bound to be repeated. :agree:
