I agree, but I think the Chinese are going to be a little more sophisticated with these transactions moving forward. They're under growing pressure by the US and Europe, and arms proliferation (especially of drones and missiles) is an easy target for regulators. I bet they're keeping a closer eye now on how missiles in Pakistan or Iran look compared to Chinese and North Korean counterparts.

IMO, this situation may lead to either:

1. More 'original' projects in Pakistan that draw on Chinese subsystems and other inputs. So, the 'link' between us and China isn't as clear. This is where P282 and SMASH could factor in if we decide to disclose 300+ km ranges. I think our UAV strategy is going that route.

2. We straight up lie about the range of our missiles. So, the Chinese tell everyone they sold us an MTCR-compliant thing. We tell everyone we bought an MTCR-compliant thing. In reality, only God and the armed forces know what's up.

They can just do the same thing with the guided MLRS. Export them with a big red toggle that says “under no circumstances should you mess with this toggle - doing so will extend rocket range and violate MTCR”.

There really is no need to. You could also ship a CKD of the MLRS as a JV and Pakistan can claim upon inspection that the rocket motor is indigenous which extended the range. And it will be.

This can be countered by buying STM 540 type submarines.
These submarines will be real headache for IN assets

(Speculative)

Short Term
1) We should 100% execute option for 2 Type054 100%
2) Try to get 2-4 Italian Ships
3) Exercise Options on OPV program 1 more
4) Pick up Used Chinese Corvettes (4)
5) 2 More Azmat

Long Term
The Jinnah Program will take 3-4 years to 5 years to start , it seems like good idea for TOT type setup long term


Pakistan Navy has surprised us all with the Program announcement till 2030 in past seems like they have done their homework

Yes 2 more type 54a's can be great in addition to 4 already in contract but I will not be in favor of used chinese corvettes. We better get modern assets which can serve long in navy and have credible offensive / defensive capabilities.
By 2025-28: The 54As, milgems & hangors will really transform Navy. More then enough to counter adversary.

Post 2028, If budget allows and china agrees, we better should work to secure 1 or 2 Type-52D. That will add massive capabilities in terms of fleet air defense and offensive power. It is one of best air-defense destroyers in the world and we can get it in less then half the price in comparison to other destroyers of its level because China is making those in numbers.. per unit price decreases in large supply line.
