šŸ† Elon Musk to get the last laugh as ultra-ambitious Tesla Model Y prediction comes true [being the #1 selling car in the world]

Tesla have left a few gaps in the broader EV market that GM and Ford can fill, their vehicle range is relatively limited. Whether Fords and GM's ambitious plans for their broader line up translates into profitable growth is debatable, I'm reading two seperate investor reports that argue either way (can't repost these, subscription read only).

I get your point with Tesla and Apple, their market positioning is also similar with a premium product in the most profitable segments. There is a great deal of Steve Job's influence apparent in Musks business strategy, like the concept of a transitory competitive advantage that Jobs employed (as opposed to a sustainable competitive advantage), his key strategy to defending a dominant market position.

The thing is the cell phone market rewarded companies that were quick to innovate and harsh to those who were slow.

Tesla has been selling their Model 3 in the US since 2017 (their premium stuff I won't count)

In the 5 years since then the EV's made available by Ford, GM, and Chrysler have barely sold anything.

2022
1) Tesla Model Y: 252,000 (starting price $46,990)
2) Tesla Model 3: 240,000 (starting price $65,990)
3) Tesla Model S: 176,000 (starting price $104,000)
4) Kia EV6: 80,000 (starting price $41,400)
5) Tesla Model X: 66,700 (starting price $120,990)
6) Ford Mustang Mach-E: 39,500 (starting price $43,895)
7) Chevy Bolt EV/EUV: 38,100 (starting price $31,500)
8) Hyundai IONIQ 5: 21,000 (starting price $39,950)
9) Volkswagen ID.4: 20,500 (starting price $41,230)
10) Ford F-150 Lightning/Rivian R1T: 15,600 (starting price $39,974)

Far more people are buying ~$100,000 Model S and X's than Mustangs and Bolts.

The Ford Lightning was new so I will hold off on commenting on it.

most people in Dubai who drive manuals are blue collar low paid workers that Pathans or Malus (South Indians) driving picks up.

I guess they are men.
And the point is...??? Dubai is more 'advanced' than US...???

Next year and beyond is when Ford and GM will start to gain market share for their EV's and hybrids, they have both invested heavily in R&D and manufacturing capacity.

Donā€™t under stand nexus between driving an ancient engine transmission mission mode and being a man ?

It is like saying Vietnamese pilots were manly as they flew manual / obsolete Mig17 v state of the art ā€œautomatic ā€œ F4

I certainly hope so.

But they are even further behind the 8-ball because self-driving cars are just around the corner...and when Tesla makes it a non-expensive option it is simply going to wipe everybody out.

Tesla is already going for the jugular by lowering prices...just think of what they will start doing when they have self-driving fully working.

I will tell you what they will do. They will run an insane worldwide advertising blitz saying this is the 21st Century and you deserve to be driving in a self-driving car like you have seen in the movies...and "is not your father's Oldsmobile".

It's going to be really interesting to watch how the EV market plays out over the next ten years. There is enough potential global market growth for Tesla, Ford and GM to rapidly increase unit sales and between the three of them dominate the global EV market. They are the only manufacturers with the planned production capacity to meet global demand. The Chinese EV automakers will not be competitive without the government subsidies and will lack the production capacity to meet demand. There are some good reasons why Warren Buffet has been steadily exiting his position in BYD.

I suspected you were a false flagging Chinese member the second you started complaining about my pro-US posts..but refused to comment about other's pro-China posts. Then you did their same Chinese tactic of calling me an Indian the second you got backed into a corner...then you do a 180 and start calling me a smug racist. LOL!

You are just confirming your Chinese background by calling a Chinese member your brother...but have a problem with me cheering brother Elon Musk.

It's hard to find cars in the US that are manuals. Every year the percent available decreases.

The End of Manual Transmission

"In 2000, more than 15 percent of new and used cars sold by the auto retailer CarMax came with stick shifts; by 2020, that figure had dropped to 2.4 percent. Among the hundreds of new car models for sale in the United States this year, only about 30 can be purchased with a manual transmission."
Boy genius here doesn't even know how dependent Tesla is to China. As long as it is 'American', he will take his pom poms out and cheer. Lolol

LOL! I see some serious butthurt showing.

This achivement should have been accomplished by BYD 15 years ago..100's of BYD engineers vs a few guys putting batteries in Lotus Esprits in some garage.
