Musharraf resigns; for nation and country

i dont know when will our people decide to make their decisions on their own , we rely on others to make our decisions & if the result is not what we expected we blame others that it was there falt, what we dont realize it that we are the makers of our destiny & no one can change it.
We are people are hopeless we fight for what is ours not for what is right.

Any one who is anti musharaf just please answer me the following questions.
what did he did wrong to deserve this.? this is the man who fought two wars for this country he gave his blood for his country & that country is accusing him of not being patriot.
The one who are blaming him when did last time they did any thing for this country that give them the right to accuse him.

that man put his life on the line for this country being attacked 7 time in his tenure & still serving people didnt run away like others.

He holded our hand at a time when our whole nation was sinking & he alone brought us out was it that bad ??

He never cared for himself when it comes for the country he knew his people will not like his actions since they dont know what is good for them & what is bad but he still did what was best for the country regardless of his own falling popularity.

At last i just wan to say that.

Some times we dont deserve what we get, & some times we dont get what we deserve.

I dont care what any one says i was with him, i am with him & i will be with him .

Champ

As far as Lal Masjid is concerned tell me who was running away from the mosque? If Maulvi Abdul Aziz was right than why didn’t he fight? He damaged the name of Islam and Pakistan.

Secondly why this elected government is not stopping the operation in tribal areas?

what did he did wrong to deserve this.?

While I am a supporter of Mr. Musharraf, I will acknowledge what I identify as a "fault" and "what he did wrong" == Mr. Musharraf likes, he seems to need, to be liked. His other fault or something he did wrong was to get the U.S back stab in his stride.

Americans are serious people, they need to be bealt with in a serious manner. The absoolute worst possible thing for any leader of any Muslim country is to imagine that intelligensia and media in the U.S are any different from intelligensia or media in Pakistan.

But perhaps these are unfair criticisms - after all in Pakistan, public opinon is fragmented, consensus on important issues does not exist - maybe it's best let Pakistan bleed itself into responsiblity and therefore, action.

What I can only say about Pervaiz Musharraf is that people will remember him always as a hero of Kargil and a soldier who saved Pakistan.

I wish that he can continue his political career so that he can come back when we need him in future.

Text of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf''s resignation speech

Islamabad, Aug. 18 : Following is the text of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf address to the nation and his announcement that he was resigning from office.

"Today is a day of an important decision for me." Proceedings began with recitation from the Holy Quran at 13.10 pm. President Pervez Musharraf said the nation is aware of the crisis it is going through."

"When I assumed charge nine years ago the country was about to be branded a failed state and a terrorist state. He asid assumed charge with the aim of rescuing the country. In the last nine years I have tried my best to serve the country to the best of my ability… during confrontation with India, 9/11 and its aftermath and the devastating earthquake.''

''In all these crises we stood up thanks to the Grace of Gof and saved Pakistan from the crises. In handling the problems the sole aim was the well-being of the people and the safety and security of Pakistan.

I have taken part in two wars which Pakistan fought… [The coalition government] They deceived the people. Never did they realize that they may win against me but how adversely the contry was affected did not concern them. Economic decline and energy crisis we''re experiencing is being attributed to my policies.

I would like to put some facts before the nation, especially the economy. The economy was doing well, in fact very well before Deb 2007. he GDP growth was 7 percent. Revenue collection had reached one trillion dollars. The KSE index was around 15,000 points. All these indicators are of eight months ago. Pakistan''s economy was poised to take off. How did the economic probkem start all of a sudden? Why has the stock exchange lost 5,000 points. Why has the rupee lost almost 30 percent of its value?

Surely, the present economic crisis is owing to rising oil prices and similar other developments on a global basis. But it is wholly incorrect to put blame on these global factors alone. It is our own failures during the last 8 months.

Power Sector: We were producing 14,000 MW in June 2007 but are now producing just about 10,000 MW. Why? In a nutshell, the people are being fooled. Let us now look forward to find solutions to take the country out of the woods. During the past nine years, we addressed all sectors and accelerated development in the country. In these 9 years , we constructed several roads and bypasses and worked on several other developmental projects. You can see for yourself how much we have done, including all the dams that have been constructed (such as the Mirani Dam). Several canals are also being constructed. These developments will help irrigate 3 million acre fields in the country.

There was massive industrialisation during the last nine years. There was a lot done for higher education. Nice universities from different foreign countries had agreed to set up campuses in the country. In the health sector primary and secondary healthcare was given priority. Safe drinking water was a sector that was addressed on priority and 6000 water purification plants were set up. Women were given political empowerment and now you see a lot more women in eh assemblies. Honour killing was discouraged and Hudood Ordinance laws were revamped. The minorities were given opportunities and culture and heritage was given due importance.

Democracy: We incorporated the essence of democracy into the system through a highly progressive Local Bodies system. Anyone harming it will harm Pakistan. We held two successful general elections. Global Image: We introduced Pakistans true image all over the world which proves the success of our policies.

I''m proud of all the achievements. If you look at the donor''s conference, we were given 6.5 billion dollars in donations when we needed 5 billion. I''ll come to the current economic scenario now. From the beginning, I wanted to create a reconciliatory atmosphere in Pakistans politics on a personal and institutional level. I talked about the
3-phase transition to democracy in Pakistan. The third phase was achieved last year when I doffed my uniform and held free and fair elections in Pakistan. After the elections, people had hopes from their leaders in the govt. Pakistanis have been looking forward toward prosperity and stability in the political atmosphere.

Is unfortunate my appeals to strive for reconciliation and a resolution of economic issues facing the people went unheeded. Some sections of the political forces chose confrontation rather than reconciliation. The President''s office was accused of conspiring against the new democratic setup. You should remember it was I who held free and fair elections. Look at the PM''s election the coalition setup in Sindh. The opposition cooperated with the govt. in getting the budget passed. I have publicly announced my support to the govt. I have offered the govt. my services. Unfortunately the coalition govt. thinks me a problem and wants to impeach. What are they scared of and why do they want to do this?

Impeachment and chargesheet is the right of the Parliament and I have the right to defend myself against these charges. I am confident that no charge can be proved against me. All my actions were for the good of the people and the country. All my major decisions were the consent of all concerned and all stake-holders, e. g. services, bureaucracy, civil society, etc. I am not at all worried about the Charge-Sheet because nothing can be proved. But the larger issue is what isit going to cost Pakistan – its economy, political and social order, honour and prestige of the highest office of the state. Such are the considerations upper-most in my mind.

Whether I''m impeached or not, the country''s stability will be compromised. The office of the president will also be insulted. Pakistan is my love; now and always, my life is for Pakistan. I have defended and will continue to defend Pakistan. I want to be able to bring Pakistan out of the current crisis so I think perhaps should do something. But I also do not want to do something that may generate uncertainty in the country. I also want to save the Parliament from horse-trading. Even if the impeachment is defeated, the relations between the President''s office and the coalition govt. will not heal. Institutions will be endangered. Therefore, with this situation in view and having consulted my legal and political advisors, I have decided to resign from my post.

I have decided to resign from the office of President and my resignation will be handed over to the Speaker of the National Assembly. I want the people to be the judges and let them decide my fate. I am a human being and may have committed follies.(ANI)

we reaallllllllllyyy miss uu :pakistan:

I m really shocked and surprised when i saw Pres.Musharaf resign.. its right he last hope of Pakistan and morethan 70% pakistani people with him..sharif and zardari say he got a mandate ..hahaha what mandate. pakistan population is nearly 16 crore and in participate in election just 4,5 crore ..the other 10,11 crore silence people with Musharaf policies ..In last 8 years Musharaf works ..nobody can work like this last 60 years.in every field..
All guys talking in favour of Musharraf are the best people Pakistan has i’m sure theirs millions others who love Musharraf but are hesitant to say it.

Undoubtly the best leader after Jinnah someone who was courageous very bold in taking dangerous decisions has risked his life fighting two wars and than by banning all the religious groups who are heavily armed, getting rid of terrorists like Akbar Bugti and who had hijacked the Balochistan province and than tackling the most dangerous issue which has grown so stronger in Pakistan over the last thirty years the situtaion in the tribal areas.

Mush was not coward like the likes of Nawaz (DOG) and Zardari(Pig) he tackled every dangerous issue head on.

The development Pakistan saw in the last 9 years financially but the illiterate and mindless nation failed to recognise it.

How can people of a nation be so foolded and blinded by the corrupt looters and incompetent leaders who brought Pakistans economy to the ICU and still get elected over Musharraf’s government who brought so much better for them.

How can a nation filled with problems of corruption, mismanagment, people being illiterate, law and order situation from 1947 to 1999 expect everything to be fine in 9 years.

He could’ve either bribed the WAR LORDS and TRIBAL ELDERS give them ROYALTY which the past governments use to do and kept the peace but thats not the RIGHT way forward for the future of the country.

He was the best we had a true loyal Pakistani sincere in developing Pakistan.A true LEGEND which we have lost so easily.

Mr. Musharraf is fair & sincere with country and country people.
Whatever decision he did in past that is not only his decision because any type of issue he discusses with concerned parties or groups.
Pk lover supporting Mr. Musharraf & those people don’t love Pakistan they don’t like Mr. Musharraf
We will see that what Zardari and Nawaz can do for this country as everybody knows both looted our country in past so no need to make any hope with current government.
I will suggest that Mr. Musharraf leave the country ASAP otherwise some mindless people will kill him and we don’t want to lose Mr. Musharraf and I will suggest that he should move any save place and lead the supporters from out of Pakistan because I am sure current government cannot stay for long time And Hope Mr. Musharraf will back on his place very soon.
I will request all best wisher of Pakistan to submit the comment as much as possible.

WE SHOULD ALL JOIN HANDS AND BECOME A UNITED FORCE A PRO MUSHARRAF GROUP AND HELP RESTORE PRIDE BACK IN PAKISTAN GET RID OF THE CORRUPT LEADRES AND BRING BACK MUSHARRAF………………………………………………………………………………………………………

TO HELL WITH THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED AGAINST HIM THE MOST ILLITERATE AND DUMB AND CLUELESS AND HOPELESS PEOPLE IN THE WORLD WHO WILL REALISE THEIR MISTAKE VERY SOON……………………………

SO GUYS LETS JOIN HANDS AND STAND UP AND MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD DON’T LET THE NATION FALL BACK INTO THE HANDS OF THE MOST CORRUPT AND TAKE THE COUNTRY BACK INTO THE BLEAK DAYS……………….

Otherwise Pakistan won’t be Pakistan anymore in future its name can change to “THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF TALIBAN OR DUMBISTAN OR STUPIDISTAN…. SORRY

PLEASE BROTHERS AND SISTERS LETS RISE B4 ITS TOO LATE…..

Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf has said he has no immediate plans to resign and go into exile. He told journalists:

“I won’t resign in the current situation. I will live and die in Pakistan, there is no other way,”

“I will keep watching. I can’t become a useless vegetable” he said,

he also said : “cannot preside over the downfall of Pakistan”.

Showing anger over reports that he was planning to leave for Turkey, President Musharraf said: “I don’t have a house anywhere outside Pakistan. And I don’t want to have one.

“Where is the aircraft that had come to take me out of the country?” the president wondered, referring to a newspaper report last week that claimed an aircraft had landed at Islamabad to take President Musharraf abroad.

President Musharraf alleged that the rumors about his fate were being spread under a planned conspiracy. “I know the direction as I am the target (of these rumors),” he said, adding such rumors were only affecting the people of Pakistan and creating “uncertainty and confusion”

Thanks for being respectful! We usually don't get that over here :azn: Well I will surly address my reasons to love a guy! It might lead us to another debate here but I will still take a risk! Your have mentioned numeric issues here, I would love to address so lets go to your first one Former President was directly involved in those cases as you have claimed so I would like to correct this first. The issues that you have pointed out of his direct involvement are fuzzy, because no president have personal problems with anyone at least I would hope that!!!, So Musharraf wasn't personally against these people as much of you people think because I bet my life that he has not even spoken to them directly ever in his life and he had no reason of being in contact with them so his personality goes out of it. We may certainly say that all these people were affected directly by his policies some lived some are died, some are missing and its true and very true, let me be clear about that. I will move on to your objections now. First Lal masjid. Lal masjid was a case where I believe any responsible president or PM would have acted same as mush or worst then that he gave those terrorist 9 months to leave hiding places meaning lal masjid, reasons are fallowed. First it is located in the Capital of Pakistan which means it’s in the heart of Pakistan and by letting those terrorist daring to challenge the rite of government was not a good thing, especially when terrorists are challenging government’s rite right in the heart of a country. This Lal masjid scene damaged Pakistan's image very badly abroad, all the countries were taking it this way “A only nuclear armed Muslim country with the track record of AQ khans nuclear proliferations to north Korea, Iran and couple other countries with one million army cant control its 50 square mile capital!!! How should we trust Pakistan and why should we trust them” NATO and US surly wanted to come by themselves in Pakistan to do the job and they were looking for any excuse from Pakistan to justify their actions! Under all circumstances Musharraf still gave 9 months to terrorists to leave Lal masjid, with the guarantee of not putting them to trail if they stay in their villages,” I am talking about head terrorists” and bro I guess it’s a big time frankly speaking very long time which I think was a mistake, we should off gone in right away to finish the job! Because those 9 months were enough for terrorist to get the sympathy from other Muslim countries to portray Pakistan as a fake Muslim country plus it was enough time to convince plain Pakistani people. I know about Islam and you do too I dare and challenge anyone to justify Lal masjid stand off of terrorists by Islam and let me assured you, no one will be able to justify it through Islam (Quran or Ahidit) Its against Islam. Totally against it, especially in the mosque with all kinds of weapons that you can name! Terrorist had no justification to stay and make a mosque a battle ground; it was their choice not Musharraf’s. He did what was necessary to be done and that was to finish the job but still we tried to lower the casualties especially when terrorists were hiding among civilians’ women and children! Number 2 Dr afia well to be honest about it I really don't have enough knowledge about her so ill skip that until I will get some feedbacks and educate myself about this case. Moving ahead about Baluchistan and bhugti well I hope you know about the richness of Baluchistan with natural resources! In my understanding their were and are a lot of foreign hands in Baluchistan bolochi sparest groups wanted to take freedom from Pakistan, and they had been trying to do so for the longest time, and every time they become the instrument of our enemies. Bhugti was the main voice which was hurting Pakistan a lot ever since the American invasion of Afghanistan. US and India and couple other countries have interest of having Baluchistan separate from Pakistan or at least have some trouble their to use this are of proxies against Pakistan and I believe not to give up Baluchistan which means if they want to take Baluchistan away from Pakistan then they have two options, first leave Pakistan if you don't like it and live in Iran or Afghanistan, second options is if they decide to challenge Pakistan over this so they die, because Pakistan will not give up Baluchistan, so in this case Musharraf adopted a middle road which was going straight for the head of the snake which happened to be bhugti, whose son still live in Afghanistan. I think it was the best decision still not aggressive Pakistan army killed bhugti who had his own government in Baluchistan he had his own jails his own courts his own law in His area his own army equipped by Indians and Americans, as I have researched rest god knows! Musharraf gave orders to kill him after giving him a lot of warnings, these warnings you can check online on youtube as well, he deployed army to control the area to maintain the law and order plus so Pakistan can work with bolochi people who had no bridge with us. We built schools and colleges their build roads and did a lot of social and economical work there to win the hearts and minds of people! That was a good intention and good solution I 100% support it, if people get killed in this process, who want to confront Pakistan’s military might then so be it, they die!. Strong and aggressive answer but true one. SWAT problem is same we can’t afford to let this scum bag baitullah massod and radio molvi to challenge Pakistan and black mail us! They wanted to use SWAT area to plane attacks on Afghanistan, NATO, US forces and then come back to swat. In plain words they wanted Pakistani government to give them safe havens in swat. You tell me something would you let this happen. I would answer on my behalf NO. If we would have let them do whatever they wanted, I am sure that today we would have all these 80 countries entering Pakistan. Again he did it for Pakistan not for himself. Media question. This one is funny. He is a person who actually gave us a mass media, we had one channel today we have over 60 channels, he gave them freedom of speech that is why every one witnessed, people against him on TV. He closed cretin channels, because they were working for foreigners. You tell me one thing? USA talks about our nukes, our media carries it out for months then our some stupid journalists go and gather some wrong information about Pakistani military having some extremist elements in it, then debating about what if Pakistan falls apart who will control our nukes! All these debates went back on US and world media. Then our media started talking about our command and control system and how we need to improve it next day you will see US president asking president Musharraf about how good your command and control system is? You tell me this media was working for us or US. The owner of GEO TV lives in near by my area in US. It’s funny why Musharraf always had problem with GEO! This media didn’t help our government; rather it became convenient for US and world to pound us with millions of questions. AQ khan now! Musharraf’s government kept AQ khan in house arrest for is own security. If you remember those days Pakistan was busted with nuclear deals around the world. It was a hot topic plus, if you don’t know about stories of how Israel kidnapped Iraqi nuclear scientists. How US have kidnapped Russian scientist to find how their enemies work and what they actually hold! I guess one has to question; can Pakistan afford such a risk? For this I say Musharraf did the best thing even if he kept AQ khan against his will. When Pakistan was busted we threw everything on him that was the best move ever instead admitting it. The fall out of admitting could have been in the form of sanctions on Pakistan. AQ khans survive all the pain true but we as a nation were rescued. So, AQ khan should be happy of leaving how he has served his life to a nation of Pakistan. Now letting USA attacking Pakistani soil so here is my point. Can we afford to confront USA then the answer is NO. We just let them use our air space; they just attack in tribal areas. Now the question is who do they attack? Pakistani our terrorists? The answer is terrorists and yes its true that sometimes we have causalities but it’s the name of the war game. Either we let them kill there enemy or they kill us along with them or they sanctions us. Man we are not living in 90’s anymore where we can afford to have sanctions on us. God forbid if we get sanctions on us then it means that India has open hand since India won’t be sanctioned with us like in 90’s. We will fall many years behind India. Which means forget of catching up the world we will have to first catch up with India which will not make it easy for us by any mean once we fall behind. Brother let me tell you something governing a country is not easy. Second USA is the world king. King is always strong and it gets hard for small nations for us to beat all the moves of strong countries so I say one thing. Musharraf did all he could to benefit Pakistan since we were destined to be used by them. We still didn’t give up Kashmir, we still didn’t give up china’s relations, we still didn’t give up gawader, and we still didn’t give up our nukes. But by letting US use our land for transporting good to US bases in Afghanistan, we defiantly gained to control US supplies to Afghanistan. :pakistan::guns::welcome:

nice to read your concepts....totally different from mine...lolz...

You told about USA King....ok ok dear what about Iranian President....what about them...hann.
secondly...About killing terrorist in Pakistan...So according to you children there are terrorists hammm..or for you Pakistani FC and PA personals are terrorists GUD thoughts dude.
Thirdly i accept the way GEO present their news...but what about others atleast they are telling us the truth.
Forth...LAL Masjid..Whats the problem with him to do operation and killing Pakistanis just for the piece of land...and the Army did the operation in such a way oo my God....as the are in the battle field. Are the students there are terrorists...
Come on dude... nothing could be done with out the permission of President or PM...ok

My message to Gen. (rtd) Musharraf:

We will forever remember your services for the betterment of the people of Pakistan.

You came at a time when we were in dire need of strong leadership which you provided as one man. The rollercoaster journey, embattled times of our history from the worst earthquake, WOT and economic crisis, you held our heads high.

During your tenure, the young generation's sense of pride was renewed. Today, when you leave office I felt ashamed as a Pakistani that our fellow countrymen dishonoured your services to this nation. History will remember this era in golden terms.

I'm indebted by your services to the nation to support you with all my heart and I hope you continue as a political leader to confront the difficult times ahead.

I'm emotional and sad.

As you always say Sab se pehle Pakistan. Pakistan hamesha. Pakistan Paindabad.

Dear Champ,

Your blind devotion and emotions blind you.

Yes Gen Musharraf was a good General but that does not make him a good civil Administrator or visionary. He had everything

The Army Backing Him.
The People Backing Him.
The World Powers Backing Him.

Then why did the majority vote for NS and BB ? While voting for these two they voted for change and if he was wise he would have stepped down and gone and played his tennis.

He had 8 years to solve Pakistans problems but he did not. Please don't blame the West for that.

However I agree with most people here that he must be shown dignity and respect now that he has stepped down. The Gen M era is over and now Pakistan and its media should watch Mr Zardari and NS closely and let them perform and hold them accountable when they slip up.

Regards

Which problems are you talking about? You simply dont know what Musharraf has done for Pakistan. Did you read/watch his speech?

Dear WM,

For one got rid of corrupt people like NS and Zardari from the face of politics of Pakistan instead of allowing them in thru the NRO ?

It was only in the interest of Pakistan that he chose to do so. Pakistan was better off with reconciliation between all stake holders involved rather than the chaos or drama of these chores returning to Pakistan and being sent of again only for their political gains.

In his view Pakistan was, is and will remain first. His resignation only vindicates his selfless devotion to the country he did not choose confrontation (altho I would have preferred 58-2(b)). As he always says "Sab se pehle PAKISTAN!" but for NS and Z its the power game that matters for them.

that resignation is not good for our nation leaving country in hands of dirty corrupt politicians is not a wise decision. I saw his speech and he was about to cry at the end when he said "Pakistan ka ALLAH Hafiz" :(
but mushy have done few blunders first he proposed NRO (which is now the lifeline of MR 10%) and then he destroys judiciary. if he didn't done such blunders, he would be COAS as well as president. but I didn't understand one thing, if he had to leave the office then why he didn't took back the NRO??
