SAC's J-XX?

That would mean that the F-22 was doing 3600 km/h or mach 2.94 ! .. you don't want to think this over again ?

sorry little miss calculation, it takes around 20 seconds``

I believe that an Su-35 will beat any stealth aircraft (once cost is factored, of course).

Not even close, buddy. The Su-35's RCS will be blaring on the enemy radar. 5th generation aircraft RCS allows it to be much closer without being detected.

Even if we get into a turning dogfight the Su-35 has its limitations.

this is almost impossible, lets see``

F-22 launches its 4 missiles (its weapon bay carries 6 BVRAAMs, not 4) towards 4 Su-35s at the range of 50KMs, AIM-120C accelerates and travels at 4* speed which will reach targets within 40 seconds, and two ends closing at the rate of 900 meters per second (su-35 300m/s F-22 600m/s). so by the time Su-35 has successfully evaded AIM-120C (hypothetical), F-22 will be within 11KM range, so there is no room for Su-35 to regain previous speed, altitude, AoA and energy maneuverability figures in that range, meanwhile F-22 has all the favorable odds on her side (super sonic speed, altitude, AoA and energy maneuverability figures) and it will still have 2 BVRAAMs and 2 VRAAMs to spare.

it only takes F-22 11 secods to travel 11KM but Su-35 needs at least 20 seconds to pull a full turn.

My bad 6 AMRAAMs. But assuming the F-22 travels at mach 2, it will be within perhaps 20km by the time the Su-35s re-appear on radar and return fire with their R-77s. The F-22 will also be forced to take evasive action, and will not have a significant energy advantage going into close combat. It will be going up against 4 fighters in close combat, which is practically suicide.

So?

I said once cost is factored. The Su-35 will have a numbers advantage of at least 2-1 against any decent 5th generation aircraft.

Let's say we have an F-22 going up against 4 Su-35s (rough cost equivalence). The F-22 carries 4 AMRAAMs. It detects the Su-35s at long range using its LPI radar and fires AMRAAMs at it. It will have to do so at beyond 50km to make sure the Su-35s aren't able to fire at it. The Su-35s' defense systems see the missile launch and they make descending beam turns to break doppler lock. Once they have done so, they wait a while and then turn back towards the location of the launch. The F-22, which is now out of AMRAAMs and is facing multiple fighters, will have turned around and be running for its life if it had any sense. Thus, the Su-35s have forced the F-22 to disengage and run.

How much do you think a F-22 and a Su-35 cost? I doubt the Su-35 is a cheap plane, it probably costs at least around $70 million, and over $80 million for export versions. The F-22 is expensive for sure, but I don't think they're over $200 million dollars each.

The F-22 unit cost is somewhere around $200 million. It's hard to tell exactly, since the American budget people are really disingenuous when it comes to splitting R&D from unit costs. The Russian government is buying its Su-35s for under $50 million each. This figure also makes sense considering that India is paying about $35 million for imported Su-30MKIs.

So if one F-22 costs 200 million and Su-35s costs 50 million.... Then is it not better to have 4 Su-35s rather than 1 F-22??? I mean there is no way one F-22 can be equal to 4 Su-35s right??? Just a curious question...!!! Waiting a reply from someone who can ACTUALLY answer it....

Wrong, wrong wrong, Su 35 BM is not that cheaper. @beerbal: Can you please look into the new su30MKI price??? I think its more than 35 mill.

Su35 BM is comparable to Typhoon (though different league.) I will buy 100s of Su35 if its cost 50 mil USD...

sounds like an Australian Air power type best case for OPFOR scenario..
1/500.. the F-22 blows the Sukhoi's out of the airspace before they even realize what has happened.

Back to the model. I doubt it's truly SAC's J-1X project, since both huzhigeng and lizyu stated that the design utilized a CARET inlet rather than DSI on this one. Also, it is even larger than J-20, while this model seems more like a medium weight aircraft.

Seriously?

no way``what like ``China wants to build a spaceship`??

Yes, it's about the dimension of a Su-27. I remember some insider jokingly said Su-27 had a one night stand with F-22 when asked about its appearance.

Then this may be the study for another project by SAC??

To be as large as the su-27.. its either a strike orientated craft.. or China is duplicating its interceptor class.
