MELBOURNE: Strongly favouring Labor Party decision to export uranium to India despite it being a non signatory to the Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty, Australian Defence Minister Stephen Smith has said that he did not support the similar treatment towards Pakistan.

Smith, who is set to leave for India today, said he did not support uranium exports to Pakistan.

Smith said he was a strong supporter of uranium export to India, calling it an exceptional case.

"India brought itself under the governance of the international nuclear regulators, the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Nuclear Suppliers Group," Smith said.

"That has not occurred with Pakistan. There has never been a suggestion of (nuclear) proliferation from India," he said adding, "Regrettably, over preceding years, there have been serious concerns about proliferation from Pakistan."

He expressed hope that Pakistan would understand the decision and that it would not affect military ties between the two nations.

"Pakistan would understand the decision and that it would not affect military ties between the two nations, especially in their cooperation in the war in Afghanistan," he said adding, "I don't see this decision as having an adverse outcome, so far as the Australia-Pakistan relationship is concerned."

"Nor do I see it in any way as being relevant to suitability in South Asia. We have a very good military-to-military and defence-to-defence relationship with Pakistan."

We have reserves but those are very small compared to the world's total reserves. For a large scale nuclear power industry you need to have large Uranium reserves but racist countries of the world have created an apartheid and only allow Uranium to be sold to their friends and slaves. See Uranium reserves in different countries here: List of countries by uranium reserves - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

More of a reason to stop cooperating with these countries on war OF terror.

None of these countries respect Pakistan so why should Pakistan respect them.

None of these countries respect your sacrifices. Kill as many of your people, kill as many of your soldiers for this war OF terror they will always favor india over the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Extracting uranium reserves require complex technologies and even from a area of large uranium reserves for eg some 1000tonnes only 400-500 tonnes can be extracted....

Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission has claimed to have discovered around 1,000 uranium favourable sites, which could provide the required fuel for its proposed nuclear power plants.
The officials said the PAEC had finalised a plan to establish more than 6,000 tons of reasonably assured reserves of uranium by 2011 to fulfil the one-third requirement of fuel for producing 8,800mw of nuclear power.
It said that uranium favourable rocks constituted 12 per cent of the total areas of Pakistan.

"More than 65 per cent of the favourable sites have been scanned through airborne gamma-spectrometric and foot radiometry surveys for its potential, while 35 per cent is yet to be checked," the document said.
